Let their best memories be tomorrow
Karma is a Lebanese NGO advocating for equal access to the basic human right of healthcare for children. Karma’s mission is to support the treatment of vulnerable pediatric patients with cancer and thalassemia in Lebanon. To date, Karma has supported the treatment of more than 120 children with cancer and 130 children with thalassemia. Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder that causes chronic anemia. Patients require life-long blood transfusions among other medical services necessary to keep them in good health and prevent complications of the disease. Left untreated, the life expectancy of a thalassemia patient drops significantly. Since June 2023, Karma delivers comprehensive multidisciplinary care to 90 vulnerable children with Transfusion Dependent Thalassemia in Lebanon. Karma’s aim is to increase their chances of survival, prevent complications of the disease, and improve the quality of their lives. Karma free of charge services include covering the cost of hospitalization for phenotyped blood transfusions at Elias Hrawi Governmental Hospital in Zahle, organization of blood donation campaigns in partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross, distribution of medications, granting transportation allowance for the families, and referrals for medical consultations. Today, Karma is asking for your support to be able to sustain this project, and continue delivering the care necessary for our little patients’ survival and growth, hoping that their best memories will be tomorrow.

Help Restore a Graphic Designer's Vision
Hello everyone, I’m Mark, and I'm reaching out to you today with a story of resilience and hope. As a passionate graphic designer and artist, my world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with a neuro-bacterial infection in my optic nerves. For two long months (early November to early January), I was plunged into darkness, I had less than 10% vision, hospitalised for 2 weeks on antibiotics IV in January, unable to see the vibrant colors and intricate details that once inspired my creativity. I’ve tried to overcome this setback by selling my existing art on Instagram (www.instagram.com/markisnotgoth), but unfortunately, it hasn’t yielded the financial support I desperately need. Thanks to the unwavering support of my loved ones and the expertise of my medical team, I'm slowly regaining my sight. However, the road to full recovery is a challenging one, the ophthalmologist said it might take up to 12 months for me to get 90% of my vision back, and I'm facing unexpected hurdles along the way. Despite my progress, I still struggle to perceive colors and details correctly, making it impossible for me to resume my work as a graphic designer and artist. As I go through this journey of healing and restoration, I'm faced with mounting bills and financial uncertainty. Without the ability to work, I find myself in a difficult position, unable to support myself financially while I focus on regaining my vision. That's why I'm turning to the generosity of the community for support. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in my life and bring me one step closer to reclaiming my passion for design and art. Your support will not only help me overcome this obstacle but will also serve as a powerful reminder of the incredible strength and compassion that exists within our community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting me on this journey. Together, we can turn darkness into light and restore the colors of creativity to my world. If you would like to support me in other ways, please buy my art on Instagram @markisnotgoth With gratitude, Mark Mansour

Save Ali from Blindness
Dear friends and community, I'm Ali's wife and it is with a heavy heart that I share the story of my husband, who just turned 30. Few years ago Ali stared developing serious visual symptoms that showed up starting with tripping and knocking into stuff that where right infront of him, unable to see at night and taking him a little too long to notice things around. So we went to a specialist who diagnosed Ali with Retinitis Pigmentosa a rare eye disease affecting around one in every 4,000 people worldwide, that causes visual impairment that impacts daily life and when we asked about the next steps, the doctor replied, “There’s really nothing you can do about this” and estimated that he will lose his sight in 7 yrs from now. The shocking news where devastating and the stress & sadness overtook us for a while. However, although retinitis pigmentosa is not treatable you can still get help to manage the condition with restoration therapy to restore visual function and increase functionality of preserved cells which leads to improvement in vision and slower the progression of the disease and thus he can preserve his vision for a longer period of time. Going through restoration therapy is Ali's only hope for him to preserve his vision and fulfill his only wish of expanding our family and have children without him being worried that he wont be able to see there faces or protect them from any harm. So my friend your support will mean the world for us, it will be an inspiration to hold out hope, especially from people who understands the emotional side of things and what you and your family members are going through. Hope this letter reaches you. Thank you Sincerely.

Help us save my father
Hello, I am Sarah Sarkis, the daughter of Mr. Abboud Sarkis who was admitted on the morning of 29/12/2023 to LAU medical center, St John's hospital, jounieh and has been lying in the ICU bed ever since. He was diagnosed with severe pneumonia that required intubation which he miraculously survived given the comorbidities he has. During the recovery or weaning phase, he caught another lung infection due to an immunodeficiency. The second infection necessitated another intubation in less than one month and several rounds of dialysis as his kidneys condition worsened under the effect of the infections and the intubation and extubation process. Last week, his platelets count started dropping for no specific reason, hence a bone marrow aspiration or biopsy was carried out by Dr. Anwar Shayya to find the leading cause. My father is surrounded by the ICU doctors Dr. Chalouhi and Dr. Iskandar, the best nephrologist, Dr. Zeina Meshref and the medical and psychological support provided by the hospital personnel is unprecedented, yet the medical bills are spiking as his health keeps failing him whenever we start believing that he is getting better. My family managed to pay an amount of 24,000$ out of the total bills amount and the modest NSSF coverage barely reimburses 10% of the hospital fees. Therefore, the family decided to start this fundraising campaign in order to help my father continue his treatment and hopefully return to his home and family. All details concerning my father's case including copies of paid bills and medical reports are available upon demand and can be provided if you contact us on 03/467343. The people who got to know my father including all the students he taught over his 45 years in the educational field know what a wonderful teacher and a dedicated man he is.

Help Charbel Fight Against Mucoviscidosis- URGENT!
Dear friends and community, I trust this message finds you well. My name is Grace Massaad, and it is with a heavy heart that I share the story of my son, Charbel Abou Tayeh, a 22-year-old young man currently in the hospital battling Mucoviscidosis (Cystic Fibrosis). This life-threatening condition primarily targets the lungs, and the lifeline for Charbel is a medication under the brand name of ‘Trixacar’, a treatment which without, Charbel’s life is on the verge. In Lebanon, the exclusive source for ‘Trixacar’ is ‘Droguerie Phenicia’ and the monthly supply (equivalent to one box) comes with a daunting price of $6,000. Lebanon is facing an unprecedented economic crisis, making essential medicines like ‘Trixacar’ inaccessible to many due to its burdening cost. Our healthcare system is financially underserving, and families, including ours, are navigating the challenges of affording vital chronic medical treatments. To this end, we are turning to you, our extended community, for financial support. Every contribution, however minimal, would bring us closer to ensuring Charbel receives the medication needed to halt Mucoviscidosis progression. We cannot exaggerate how needed your generous contribution is and how critical it is in shaping Charbel’s life. Please consider donating to our Fundahope campaign to help ease the medical expenses. For those who are unable to contribute through this platform, donations can be made through Western Union or WishMoney to Sandra Ablaine Achkar, reachable at +9613200069 It is only through your support that we can ensure Charbel’s access to Trixacar and the only means by which we can have Charbel fight the odds against Mucoviscidosis. We recognize that these times are challenging for everyone, but any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Please share this campaign with your network, in hopes of giving Charbel a chance to live a long healthy and happy life. Thank you for your compassion, kindness, and support. Grace Massaad

Help me to get back my normal life
Two and a half years ago, I was involved in a car accident that resulted in a severe spinal cord injury at the C6-C7 level. This accident left me tetraplegic, meaning I lost mobility and sensation in both my upper and lower limbs. Since then, I've been on a challenging journey of rehabilitation and recovery. In Lebanon, where I currently reside, I've been receiving treatment and therapy for my spinal cord injury. However, the progress has been slow, and I'm at a point where the treatment costs have become overwhelming. The medical facilities in Lebanon, while providing essential care, may not have the advanced equipment and specialized expertise that could significantly improve my chances of recovery. I've been presented with an opportunity to continue my rehabilitation in Turkey. Turkish medical facilities are renowned for their state-of-the-art equipment and experienced professionals, which offer a better chance for recovery and regaining some level of independence. However, the cost of this treatment is beyond what I can afford, given the financial strain this situation has placed on me and my family. This chance to continue my recovery in Turkey is crucial for me to return to a more normal life. It's a beacon of hope after years of suffering and adaptation to my changed circumstances. I'm reaching out to friends, family, and my community for support, whether it's through emotional encouragement or financial assistance. Your support will make an enormous difference in my journey towards recovery and regaining my independence.
