Ma3kon (pronounced “maakon” and meaning “with you” in Arabic – معكم) is a grassroots humanitarian initiative that was established in the wake of the devastating August 4th Beirut explosion. The initiative is led and co-founded by three Lebanese university students aiming to ensure the accessibility of essential products to vulnerable communities and marginalized groups in Lebanon. Ma3kon supplies menstrual products and diapers (both children and adult size) for established local NGOs and vulnerable groups across Lebanon. Today, we are a group of 27 students dedicated to fighting unequal access to basic hygiene and period poverty in Lebanon. In the past year, we were able to donate over 10,000 period pads and 9,000 diapers to 10 different NGOs across Lebanon. Ma3kon also aims to deconstruct taboos by tackling subjects that revolve around sex education, menstruation, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Ma3kon is part of the Beirut Relief Coalition and has six official partner organizations:
- Live Love Beirut
- Rifaq El Dareb,
- Nation Station
- Georges Nassim Khoriaty Foundation
- Make A Difference
- Meghterbin Mejtemiin
