Samuel Tochukwu Ekechukwu Created this campaign
Dear Sirs/Ma'am's,
I trust you are doing well today and that my message meets you wel
I'm Mr Samuel Tochukwu Ekechukwu, a type 1 diabetic from Lagos, Nigeria.
Being a type 1 diabetic means that my immune system mistakenly attacked and destroyed the beta cells in my pancreas.
Those beta cells are responsible for the production of insulin in my pancreas.
As a result of their destruction, my pancreas doesn't produce insulin again, therefore, I MUST inject insulin each and every single day of my life to stay alive and healthy. It's also known as an autoimmune disease.
I have been a type 1 for 21 years.
Dear Sirs/Ma'ams, I have not injected insulin in several days now as my insulin has finished and I'm financially unable to buy another one.
I have been without a job for close to a year now, been relying on my little savings and my elder sister.
Please Sirs/Ma'ams, can you help me get insulin. I so desperately and urgently need to inject insulin.
I haven't injected insulin in several days and I'm begining to experience symptoms consistent with DKA and it's life threatening; I'm getting increasingly fatigued that getting up from the bed is a big task, have been to the toilet several times and have this almost unquenchable urge to throw up, have been suppressing it as I know allowing it will be the begining of the end.
I can be contacted via WhatsApp: +2349112512455.
A vial (bottle) of a short and long acting insulin is 40,800 Nigerian naira and a vial takes me for about 17 days.
It's almost a death sentence living with type 1 in Nigeria; the price of insulin rises at will, the cost of our special diets are exorbitant and there are no form of government support.
I know and understand that this platform isn't a diabetes focused charity organisation but for the love of humanity, I pray everyone to save my life by helping me get insulin.
But dear Sirs/Ma'ams, kindly disregard my email and pretend I never even contacted you if it offends you.
My desperation to live pushed me to write you, and I have been reaching out to anybody and anyone I feel will understand my medical predicament and possibly assist me.
Please find attached my medical report and the photos of an expired basaglar long acting insulin I injected two nights ago out of desperation. I can't explain exactly how I feel but I know I'm super bad. It's now a case of double jeopardy for me; the insulin didn't work and my health might have been negatively affected.
Yours sincerely,
Samuel Tochukwu Ekechukwu.
