Rooting for Earth: From Seed to Tree with Haritha Foundation
We are the Haritha Foundation, a community-driven environmental organization based in Sri Lanka. We believe that protecting nature requires more than simply planting a tree—it requires nurturing life from the very beginning.
Through this project, we aim to establish a Free Sapling Production and Planting Initiative that will help combat climate change, increase biodiversity, restore green spaces, and create sustainable food sources for both people and wildlife.
Our Approach: From Seed to Tree
Unlike many tree-planting campaigns that focus only on planting day, we manage the entire growth cycle to ensure a higher survival rate and long-term environmental impact.
1. Nursery Production
We carefully collect and source quality seeds and plant them in eco-friendly nursery bags. Each seedling is grown under controlled conditions in our nursery.
2. Nurturing and Care
Our dedicated volunteers provide regular watering, monitoring, and maintenance until the saplings become healthy and strong enough for transplantation.
3. Free Distribution and Planting
Once mature, the saplings will be distributed completely free of charge. Our team will also assist communities, schools, and local groups with proper planting and aftercare guidance.
