Help Me Stay in University and Achieve My Dream of Becoming a Cybersecurity Professional
My name is Rosalia Mwaulangenai Naholo, and I am a 20-year-old Namibian woman pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, majoring in Cybersecurity, at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).
I was raised by my unemployed single mother alongside my nine siblings. Growing up in a large family with very limited financial resources taught me resilience, determination, and the value of education. Although life has never been easy, I have always believed that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a better future for my family.
I grew up without my father's presence and do not know where he is. Because of this, I was unable to submit all the required documents needed for my application to the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF). As a result, I could not benefit from Namibia's subsidized higher education funding. This has placed the full financial responsibility for my university education on my family, even though we simply cannot afford it.
This situation has affected me not only financially but also mentally and emotionally. Watching my dreams slowly slip away because of circumstances beyond my control has been heartbreaking. It is difficult to stay motivated when you know you have worked hard but cannot continue your studies simply because of unpaid tuition.
During my first semester, I successfully completed seven modules:
- Basic Science
- Design Thinking
- Business and Management Information Systems
- Introduction to Programming
- Database Fundamentals
- Mathematics for Computing
- Principles of English Language
The total cost of my first semester, including registration fees, was N$48,975.00. I now owe the university approximately N$50,000. Because of this outstanding balance, my first-semester results have been withheld, and I have been blocked from registering for my second semester. Without settling this debt, I cannot continue my education.
Despite these challenges, I have not given up. My dream is to graduate as a cybersecurity professional and use my knowledge to protect people and organizations from cyber threats while building a better future for my family. I want to become someone my younger siblings can look up to and prove that difficult circumstances do not have to determine a person's future.
I am humbly asking for your support. Every donation, regardless of the amount, will go directly toward paying my outstanding university fees and helping me register for the next semester. If I am fortunate enough to raise more than my current balance, the remaining funds will be used to cover my second-semester tuition and other essential academic expenses so that I can continue my studies without interruption.
