Our Last Chance for a Safe Home & a Bright Future
My name is Mohammed Safar. Nearly 20 years ago, I found faith in Islam after leaving Buddhism, and since then, my family and I have lived humbly in a small rural village in Puttalam District, Sri Lanka. Today, I stand before you with a heavy heart, asking for your kindness to save my family from despair.
We are five—myself, my loving wife Hajee Habsa, our son Mohammed Saneer who just finished Advanced Level, and our two precious daughters, Fathima Sahidha (Grade 9) and little Fathima Samha (Grade 2). But our home, the place that should be our sanctuary, is crumbling around us. The walls are bare and fragile, the kitchen stove is unsafe with no concrete cover, we have no toilet, and no safety door to protect us from harm. Only two small rooms hold all our dreams—and without electricity, my children struggle to study in darkness.
Every night I lie awake, worried for their future. How can they grow strong, healthy, and hopeful in such unsafe conditions? I have no money to fix these problems. Our home is not just a building—it is their hope for security, education, and dignity.
