On 22 September 2024, Dr. Lea Kallassi and Ralph El Khoury set off on a 40-day biking adventure from Paris to Beirut, traveling through Italy, Greece, and Turkey, covering over 4,300 kilometers to raise awareness and funds for the Barbara Nassar Association (BNA). This journey is particularly touching as many cancer patients, who previously struggled to access medications, are now displaced due to the outbreak of war in Lebanon. Their mission is to secure one box of cancer medication for every kilometer they cover. Along the way, they are sleeping in tents, facing rain and challenging climate conditions, mirroring the hardships experienced by the displaced in Lebanon. This ride is more than just a physical challenge; it’s a powerful stand against cancer and a commitment to supporting vulnerable patients. He is now living on painkillers and his family has no one to relieve their pain except the surgery for their son. The cost of the operation is 31 thousand euros. Diaa is a 37-year-old mother of two young children, Lea (7) and Ali (6), who is currently fighting a stage four breast cancer. Diaa was previously employed at Crédit Libanais and then at JTB in Baalbek until the bank closed. She later worked as an executive administrative manager at a well-known restaurant chain but was let go when her employer learned of her metastatic cancer. Her husband had to leave the Lebanese Army to support her full-time. The family has been struggling for over three years to provide Diaa with the care she needs. Funds are urgently needed to help Diaa’s ongoing medical costs. This includes consultations, medical exams, pet scans and medication.
