Hi, I'm Ochi. A 19 years old girl who had always been thriving in school and just recently graduated as one out of two best achievers in my school. My real name is not Ochi and while I'm not using my real name here, I am not trying to scam or make you distrust me. I have my own reasons as to why I need to remain anonymous.
I live in a rather small city in SEA country with typical Asian parents who forced what they had believe was good to their kids. While this is a pretty normal occurrence for an asian, my parents are quite extreme. I remember I used to be beaten for getting grades that were not good enough for them, starved, and many other abusive things that I don't want to mention because it is not the point I want to deliver. I want you to understand that it is dangerous for me if they or my family knew I were to make a donation campaign because of their pride. I could only imagined what would happened to me if that really happens.
Now, let me tell you about my dreams. I've always been interested in social sciences and all about writing. God knows how much I love to write stories, novels, and how intrigued I am to work at the government's office (Corruption Eradication Commission or National Narcotic Boards). That's why I wanted to go to college, studying law in college to help me understand both what I'm interested in, and have the future I've been imagining. I worked so hard in high school to achieve that dream, the sleepless night I've spent to studying and days of pushing past my limits. I've done all of that for three years and yet, the opportunity vanishes when my grandparents decided it was best for me to just get married with someone I don't even know and ten years older than me.
After long debates, they gave me a new choice. I can go to learn what I want in the best university in Indonesia if I paid off their debt and pay for my tuition myself. They gave me a year, but now I have spent six months doing nothing because I had been rejected from all the jobs I applied to.
There are other few things I've tried before to saved up money, but in Indonesia, it is hard to find part-time jobs and if there are, they demanded too much for a little salary. With no experience, good looks (I'm not joking, being good looking is a requirement in nearly every workplace here), and no proof of my high school diploma, it is almost impossible for me to find a job here.
So, that is why, as a desperate measure, I'm here opening up my campaign. Help me reached my dream. Help me make a difference, to show that my parents are wrong, to go straight with my plan to worked at one of the government's office and fight for other girls who experienced the same thing as me.
