My name is Taha Yaseene, a Yemeni citizen who has called Lebanon home for the past 11 years. I am writing to launch a fundraiser to clear my outstanding graduation balance of $3,000 USD at the Lebanese International University (LIU) in Beirut, where I have completed all academic requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.46 with Honors. Three years ago, due to severe financial hardships, my family was forced to return to Yemen, leaving me on my own in Beirut to continue my education. My father worked tirelessly to transfer me a minimal survival allowance from home, but one year ago, due to his advanced age and the worsening economic crisis, that critical lifeline completely stopped. Left with no outside financial safety net, I had to restructure my life to survive and finish my degree: I began working overnight shifts as a cashier, going straight to my university lectures in the morning without sleep, and then immediately heading to the gym to train and work as an assistant Taekwondo coach. Despite the immense psychological, physical, and financial pressure of balancing night shifts, sports leadership, and a rigorous STEM curriculum entirely on my own, I refused to let my academics slide. However, because my minimal wages had to go entirely toward immediate survival, rent, and utilities, I fell behind on my tuition payments, causing unpaid course fees to accumulate into an outstanding graduation balance of $3,000 USD. While I have walked the stage and am actively searching for additional work to sustain myself, the university cannot release my official physical degree or final transcripts until this ledger hits zero. This creates a difficult cycle where I am ready to step into a professional role to protect public health and actively raise community awareness as a Food Safety Inspector, but cannot finalize hiring contracts without my physical degree. To break this cycle, I am launching this fundraiser with a target goal of $3,500 USD; this amount will directly clear my exact $3,000 university balance while safely covering necessary platform processing fees, international transaction costs, and currency deductions so that the full payment successfully reaches the institution. Every single dollar raised through this transparent campaign will go directly to the LIU Beirut cashier office to clear my account. While I cannot publicly post my full financial ledger online due to privacy, my official university balance sheets are fully available. They will gladly be shared directly with any donor or NGO upon request. Alternatively, if a major sponsor or organization prefers not to use online platforms and would rather pay the LIU Beirut cashier directly under my student name, please get in touch with me through this page to coordinate the transaction, as any donation or share with diaspora networks acts as a direct bridge that will break this cycle and alter the trajectory of my professional life.
