My name is Beatrice from Ghana.

I have received an unconditional offer to study MSc International Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Essex, UK (January 2027) with a £5,000 automatic merit scholarship.

Why this course:

My dream is not just to earn a degree. I chose this course because it combines global business knowledge with entrepreneurship. It will equip me with practical skills in business development, innovation, international trade, and strategy.

I want to use this knowledge to help young women in Ghana like myself turn small ideas into sustainable businesses and become financially independent. I currently volunteer with Social Enterprise Ghana, where I see every day how lack of business training stops talented young women from succeeding. This MSc will give me the practical knowledge and global network to change that.

The challenge:

To keep my offer, the University requires a £6,000 tuition deposit by 14 December 2026 to issue my CAS letter, which I need to apply for my student visa. Despite my family's best efforts, we cannot raise this amount in time. If I miss this deadline, I will lose my place and my scholarship.

Here's how the funds will help:

- £1,870 –UK Student Visa + Health Surcharge

- £1,000 – Flight ticket + initial accommodation deposit

For my monthly living expenses, I plan to work part time as permitted and apply for university payment plans. I am not asking to be carried forever
