The Story & Current Situation
With immense personal sacrifices, small savings, and support from loved ones, the family managed to lay the foundation and build the primary brick walls of their small house. However, due to severe economic challenges and the skyrocketing costs of construction materials in Sri Lanka, the funds ran out completely.
Right now, the house stands half-built and incomplete:
Roofing: The roof structure is yet to be fully covered, leaving the interior dangerously exposed to heavy tropical rains.
Flooring & Walls: Floors remain rough concrete, and interior/exterior plastering is still undone.
Doors & Windows: Essential safety fittings are missing, leaving the home insecure.
Living in a half-constructed structure during heavy monsoon seasons has become extremely unsafe, posing health and safety risks, especially for the family members.
What We Are Raising Funds For
We are raising funds to cover the remaining critical phases of construction to make the house livable and safe:
Roofing Completion: Purchasing timber, roofing sheets, and ceiling materials to protect against rain and sun.
Masonry & Plastering: Finishing the wall plastering and laying durable cement flooring.
Doors, Windows & Safety: Installing secure doors and windows to ensure the family's safety.
Basic Utilities: Setting up essential sanitary and electrical connections.
