My name is *Sasindu , and I’m asking for help because I’m about to lose the one thing that can keep my family afloat: my job.
After 8 months of unemployment and over 200 applications, I finally got hired last week as a warehouse associate. It’s full-time, $18/hr, with benefits. It’s the first real chance I’ve had to break the cycle of debt and instability. There’s just one problem I didn’t see coming: *I can’t get there*.
The job is 23 miles from home in Jalalabad, and my shift starts at 4:00 AM. There are no buses running that early. No trains. No coworkers on my route. I’ve been paying $32–$38 every morning for rides just to prove I’m reliable. In 10 days, I’ve spent $350 I don’t have. My bank account is down to $19. If I miss one shift, company policy says I’m terminated during probation.
*I’m one missed ride away from being unemployed again.*
I’m not asking for a luxury. I’m asking for a used, reliable car — something like a 2010-2013 Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic — so I can drive myself to work and keep this job. I’ve found options locally for $2,800–$3,200.
*My goal is $3,500* to cover:
1. *$3,000* – Used car in safe, running condition
2. *$300* – Tax, title, and registration
3. *$200* – First month of basic insurance + gas to get started
I will post the bill of sale, registration, and photos of the car the day I buy it. Every single dollar will be accounted for. This isn’t a handout — it’s a hand up. Once I’m stable, I plan to pay it forward.
I’m 26 and I’m tired of feeling stuck. I want to work. I want to provide. I just need the tool to get there. If you’ve ever been one car away from stability, you know what this means.
