I am Saliya Kapugedara, a retired private sector employee from Sri Lanka reaching out for help for my beloved 72 old wife ( Mrs. R.Kapugedara). She has been battling a hearing problem since 2012, and it has severely impacted her quality of life. The ENT Surgeon advised her to use a hearing aid, but her left ear is now very weak, relying solely on her right ear to pick up any sound. I have to speak painstakingly slowly and get close to her for her to hear even a single word. Her condition is diagnosed as Meniere’s Disease which brings on severe dizziness, as witnessed on 20/07/2026, which led to an urgent hospital visit. The doctor recommended two Pure Tone Audiometry tests with and without a hearing aid to assess her hearing and replacing her nearly 3 year old aids, an expense beyond our means at this time. Our savings will only cover our day to day living expenses.
The doctor has checked the PTA report and recommended new pair of hearing aid namely “Widex” BTE (behind the year). Price of this equipment is slightly above US$ 3,000/=.
Therefore my humble request is for the world’s generous souls to donate US$ 3,000/=, ensuring we can afford to buy a new pair of Hearing Aids for my wife bringing back the sounds of the world around her. Even last two years she could not attend the 24th mid night Vigil Mass due to problem. Hope with your kind help she will be able to participate this year Vigil Mass.
