My name is Tymur Budko. Together with my wife and son, we are Ukrainian refugees currently living in Bucharest, Romania.
All three members of our family have officially recognised disabilities in Romania and depend on medical pumps to manage chronic health conditions.
I personally live with cerebellar ataxia, a progressive neurological condition that severely affects my coordination and muscle control, and because of it I am unable to work.
On top of this, I use a Medtronic insulin pump together with a continuous glucose monitoring system, while other members of my family rely on Omnipod and Dexcom devices to manage their own conditions.
All of these pumps require regular replacement of consumables: infusion sets, reservoirs, sensors, catheters and other components, without which the devices simply cannot function.
Without properly working pumps, our health and lives are directly at risk, and for me personally, losing access to insulin therapy would be especially dangerous given my inability to work and limited physical capacity.
Unfortunately, the Romanian state does not cover these supplies for Ukrainian refugees, and we are forced to purchase them ourselves every month.
The cost of supplies for our whole family is approximately 700–800 euros per month — an amount that is extremely difficult to cover given our limited income due to disability, my inability to work, and our refugee status.
We are asking for your support to ensure the continuity of life-saving treatment for all three members of our family.
Any donation, even a small one, will help us cover the cost of supplies for another month and maintain stability in the treatment of diabetes, cerebellar ataxia, and other conditions.
