Help Yusuf Get Medical Care and Support His Family

My name is Yasir Jamal Aljermi. I am a Palestinian father living in a displacement tent in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, Gaza, with my wife, Tasneem, and our young son, Yusuf.

I am asking for your help because my son urgently needs specialized medical care, while our family is struggling with the loss of our home, severe financial hardship, rising living costs, and debts accumulated during displacement.

Our Life Before the War

Before the war, I worked as a freelance web developer. I spent years working, saving money, and building an apartment on the fourth floor of our family home in Rafah.

I dreamed of getting married, starting a family, and giving my children a stable and peaceful home.

In May 2024, I married my wife, Tasneem.

Just two days after our wedding, we were forced to leave our home.

Everything I had spent years working to build was left behind.

We were displaced to Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, where we began a new life in a tent, facing shortages of food, clean water, electricity, and basic necessities.

Our apartment was later severely damaged, and the life we had planned disappeared.

Our Son Yusuf's Medical Condition

On February 11, 2025, our son Yusuf was born at Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza.

He brought love, happiness, and meaning into our lives during an extremely difficult period.

However, as Yusuf grew, we began noticing serious difficulties in his physical development.

Today, Yusuf lives with epilepsy and recurrent seizures, including sudden episodes in which his head drops forward.

He also has significant developmental and movement difficulties. He struggles to sit independently, cannot crawl or stand without assistance, and requires ongoing care and physical therapy.

Despite receiving treatment, his condition remains a serious concern.

His official medical referral from Nasser Medical Complex recommends specialized neurological assessment and further genetic and metabolic investigations to help doctors understand his condition.

We are also seeking appropriate brain imaging, including an MRI if recommended by his treating specialists.

Some of these investigations and specialized services have been unavailable or inaccessible to us in Gaza.

We are desperately seeking an opportunity for Yusuf to receive specialist care in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, or another country willing to accept his medical case.

No medical evacuation or hospital admission has been confirmed.

The Financial Crisis We Are Facing in Gaza

Alongside Yusuf's medical needs, our family is facing a second emergency: the cost of surviving displacement.

Before the war, I was able to earn a living through my work as a web developer.

The war and displacement disrupted my work and income, while our everyday expenses continued to grow.

Food, clean drinking water, transportation, medication, hygiene supplies, and essential items for our son have all placed an enormous burden on our family.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, price levels in Gaza remained approximately 204% above their pre-October 2023 levels in September 2026.

For families who have lost their sources of income, even ordinary daily necessities can become extremely difficult to afford.

Over time, I have been forced to borrow money to help my family survive and meet our essential needs.

These debts have continued to weigh on me while I am also trying to find medical care for my son.

I am not only worried about the next medical examination.

I am also worried about providing food, clean water, essential supplies, and a safe place for Yusuf to sleep.

I never imagined that after years of working to build a home, I would find myself struggling to meet my child's most basic needs.

Why We Are Raising $30,000

Our fundraising goal is $30,000 USD.

This is not a confirmed hospital quotation or a guaranteed cost of medical evacuation. It is a fundraising target intended to help us address several urgent and interconnected needs while we seek appropriate care for Yusuf.

Donations may be used for:

1. Specialized pediatric neurology consultations, diagnostic investigations, MRI imaging if medically recommended, and other necessary examinations.

2. Yusuf's prescribed medication, medical follow-up, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and essential caregiving supplies.

3. Possible medical evacuation and necessary travel-related expenses if a hospital accepts Yusuf and travel becomes possible.

4. Food, safe drinking water, hygiene products, shelter necessities, and other essential living expenses for our displaced family.

5. Repayment of debts incurred to meet essential family needs during displacement, including basic living and caregiving expenses.

6. Transportation, communication, and other necessary expenses associated with seeking treatment and supporting Yusuf's ongoing care.

We will use donations according to our actual needs and medical circumstances and share updates and supporting documentation wherever possible.

If medical evacuation becomes available through a humanitarian program or another source of funding, we will explain any changes to our financial needs.

A Father's Request

I am not asking for luxury or comfort.

I am asking for the chance to care for my son and provide the basic necessities that every child deserves.

Yusuf is more than his illness.

He smiles, laughs, recognizes familiar voices, and brings joy into our lives even in the hardest circumstances.

Every time I hold him in my arms, I wish I could give him a life where his greatest concern is choosing which toy to play with, not waiting for medical investigations we cannot access.

I do not know what the future holds for Yusuf.

I cannot promise that treatment will cure his condition.

But I believe he deserves the chance to be examined by qualified specialists and receive the appropriate care he needs.

I also hope to overcome the debts and financial hardship that have accumulated while trying to protect my family.
