My name is Viraj Chamika, and I am a 19-year-old student from Sri Lanka. I am writing this letter with great hope and humility to share the difficulties my family and I are facing and to kindly ask for your support.

My parents earn a living by selling street food. They work very hard every day, often for long hours, but the income they earn is only enough to cover a small portion of our basic needs. Due to rising living costs and our limited income, we have been struggling financially for many years.

Our biggest challenge is that we do not have a proper house to live in. Because of our financial situation, we have never been able to build or own a home. Living without a stable and secure place to stay has been one of the most difficult experiences for my family. My parents have sacrificed so much to support me despite our hardships, and it is heartbreaking to see them continue to struggle every day.

I am currently preparing for my Advanced Level (A/L) examinations because I believe education is the best path to creating a better future for my family. However, the cost of my education is becoming increasingly difficult to manage. I attend extra classes that cost approximately $170 per month. My parents do everything they can to support my studies, but because of our financial difficulties, it is often a challenge to pay for classes, transportation, study materials, and our daily expenses at the same time.

There are times when we do not have enough money even for basic necessities such as food and other household expenses. Despite these difficulties, I continue to study hard because I dream of completing my education, finding a good job, and helping my parents live a more comfortable life.

To build a small and simple house where my parents and I can live safely, we would need approximately $6,500. For many people this may not seem like a large amount, but for my family it is far beyond what we can afford. Having even a small home of our own would change our lives completely. It would provide us with security, stability, and hope for the future.

If there were another way for us to earn enough money to overcome these challenges, I would never ask for financial assistance. I am reaching out only because our circumstances have become extremely difficult, and I do not know where else to turn for help.

Sri Lanka has faced significant economic challenges in recent years, and many families like ours continue to suffer the consequences. Unfortunately, we have not been able to receive the support we need through available assistance programs. A friend told me about your organization/website, and that is what encouraged me to write this message and share my situation with you.

I sincerely hope you will understand the hardships my family is facing. Any assistance you can provide, whether large or small, would make an enormous difference in our lives. Your kindness and generosity would not only help us meet our immediate needs but would also give us hope for a better future.

I promise that I will continue working hard in my studies and strive to build a successful future. One day, when I am financially stable, I hope to help other struggling families just as I am asking for help today. I believe that kindness should be passed on, and I would be honored to do the same for others in need.
