The Animal Crime Bureau is an independent legal investigation organisation working on animal law in Egypt and the wider region, and the first in Egypt and the Arab region to approach animal law as legal investigation.

Laws protecting animals exist across the region. Enforcement almost never follows. The violations are not hidden. What is missing is the legal record that enforcement requires, and it is not being built.

We build it. We investigate in the field and document to an evidentiary standard. We name the provision breached, and the authority that already owes the duty and has not performed it. Each investigation is published as a numbered case file, with our findings and our method open to scrutiny. We do not accept funding that could compromise our independence, and we publish what we find regardless of who it implicates.

The work does not end at the file. Animals have been in our care continuously for more than ten years, and fieldwork has widened it: each investigation places animals in the Bureau's charge, and the Bureau keeps them.

Contributions fund the investigations: the fieldwork behind each case file, the Bureau's premises and running costs, and the veterinary care, feed and medication of the animals in its charge. Regular monthly support is what this work runs on. It lets us plan an investigation before the funding for it exists, instead of raising for each one after the fact.

The Bureau's next step is a permanent facility of its own, holding the case room and the register, the animals in its care, and working space for its volunteers.

The case register is our accounting. Each investigation appears under its own number, and that record is what our supporters hold us to.

Contributions are received and administered by the Bureau's founder, an attorney admitted to the Egyptian Bar.
