Ayadina is a registered non-governmental organization in Lebanon that has served communities in Naba’a since 2004. It runs two core programs: an Arts Education Programme for children living in the area, and a weekly Soup Kitchen for seniors.

Since the Israeli military offensive in Lebanon intensified on 23 September 2024, upward of 1 million people (roughly a quarter of the entire population) have been forced to flee their homes. Some have sought refuge in schools and shelters, while many have had to resort to sleeping on streets or beaches. Others have sought refuge in the homes of friends and relatives, who opened their doors despite the deep economic crisis affecting Lebanon since 2019.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have provided food and necessities to those sheltering in neighboring schools and facilities in the Naba’a area. This has prompted an outpouring of messages and calls from beneficiaries known to us through our core programs, explaining that their households are sheltering displaced individuals whose needs are going unmet because they do not have the means to provide for them. Ayadina will be visiting their homes in the coming days and weeks to assess the needs of those displaced individuals and provide necessities including blankets, pillows, hygiene products, and food. We are in a unique position to support these otherwise invisible families as we are already embedded in the local community and highly responsive to emerging needs.

The humanitarian situation in Lebanon is catastrophic and rapidly evolving. Due to the near complete lack of government infrastructure or support, the response to the displacement crisis has been de-centralised and organic across the country.
