My name is Heba, a 36-year-old Palestinian girl from Gaza. I am living through the horrors of war and displacement with my family of eight members. Among us are three young children my brother’s kids whom I take care of while he and his wife are abroad receiving medical treatment.

My mother is battling cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, and she urgently needs expensive medication, continuous treatment, and healthy food all of which are impossible to afford in the middle of this devastating famine. My elderly father suffers from chronic illnesses including high blood pressure, heart disease, spinal stiffness, and severe joint pain that leaves him unable to move without medication.

Our home was completely destroyed in the bombing, along with all our belongings and the small business that was our only source of income. Today, we live in a worn-out tent, with no warm clothes, no mattresses, no furniture, and no food and the cold winter is approaching fast.

I am doing my best to stay strong for my family, but we are truly at our breaking point.
