five months ago, a 14-year-old girl was in a serious car accident that left her with a broken femur (upper left leg). She underwent surgery, but unfortunately, the metal rod (intramedullary nail) placed in her leg was inserted incorrectly. The locking screws, which are meant to secure the rod, were placed in the middle of the fracture, preventing her bone from healing properly. Normally, recovery from a femur fracture takes about six months, but because of this mistake and the delay in corrective surgery due to financial difficulties, her healing process will take even longer. She has been unable to walk, attend school, or do any normal activities. Without this urgent surgery, she risks long-term complications and a much harder recovery.
