Keep the Heart Beating

Medical

Keep the Heart Beating
In the heart of a bustling Lebanese city beats a rhythm too fragile, a heart struggling to keep pace with life's vibrant melody. This beat belongs to Wajih Sarieddine, a husband, father of three, and a man whose smile radiates warmth like the Mediterranean sun. But Wajih's light is dimming, overshadowed by a relentless heart condition that whispers fear and threatens to silence his laughter forever. His only hope, a whisper of possibility woven into metal and silicon, whispers its name: LVAD-HeartMate 3. This marvel of technology, a bridge between life and oblivion, carries a price tag as harsh as the desert wind - $140,000. A sum that stands between Wajih's future and the abyss, a sum the family, with insurance offering a mere drop in the bucket, Imagine Wajih, the coach urging his kids on, the first to rise when help is needed, the man who makes every stranger feel like family. Imagine that laughter silenced, that hand no longer reaching out, that light extinguished. We cannot. Will not. With each beat of his faltering heart, urgency drums a tattoo against our chests. Time is not a luxury we have. Each sunrise a gamble, each sunset a potential farewell. That's why we reach out to you, to the kindness that echoes across oceans and continents, to the hearts that resonate with the rhythm of humanity. Every dollar you contribute is a note in Wajih's symphony of life, a chord of hope strummed against the strings of fate. It's the chance to see his children grow, hold his wife's hand with renewed strength, and watch the sun paint the sky with a palette of tomorrows. Don't wait for the silence. Donate now. Be the melody that lifts Wajih's heart, the harmony that drowns out the whispers of fear. Together, we can rewrite this story, turn fear into hope, and make the impossible beat of resilience echo through the valleys of his future. From the depths of our gratitude, thank you. Let your generosity be the rhythm that keeps Wajih's heart dancing, one beat at a time.

Help Save Yara's Life

Help Save Yara's Life
Hi, my name is Karin and I am fundraising for this life-saving treatment for my sister, Yara. Yara was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2018 at the age of 16. She bravely fought until she went into remission in December of 2020. Since then, she has been advocating for cancer patients and raising money for the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon, where she was initially treated. But now, the cancer is back and we need your help to save Yara's life. At the age of 21, she will need to be treated at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and payment must be made upfront in order for her to start the treatment. Her treatment plan requires critical medications to fight leukemia. The first is Blinatumomab along with the Ponatinib pills to compliment. This will cost $100,000 alone. Following this phase, Yara will need to undergo a bone marrow transplant, after finding a match, which will cost approximately $80,000. These expenses are in addition to her ongoing hospital stay during the length of her treatment. Time is critical and Yara needs to start her therapy as soon as possible. Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a significant impact on Yara's life. Please share this fundraiser with your family, friends, colleagues, and community.

Save Alex’ life for the second time

Save Alex’ life for the second time
I am holding this fundraising event in support of my Alex Wakimian (Hovaguimian), we live in Beirut, Lebanon. Alex is a fun-loving 11-year-old full of joy who is receiving therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia from Dr. Miguel Abboud at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. Alex was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and had a positive Philadelphia chromosome in January 2021, when he was 8 years old. Since then, he underwent three years of chemotherapy, which didn’t help with his condition, and had a relapse, which required him to have a bone marrow transplant in December 2023. He had his first bone marrow transplant done in December 2023, but it was not successful, and his doctors urgently wanted to do another transplant. The second transplant caused severe medical complications, and he is currently getting treatments to ease the effects of those complications. Alex will still undergo an additional two years of therapy for his leukemia. His treatment costs more than what we can afford, and with neither insurance nor the government helping cover his treatment costs, Alex is counting on your generosity and support for his mounting medical bills. No matter the amount of your contribution, it will have a big impact on Alex’s life.
