A SEPARATION (DOCUMENTARY): Lebanon Remembered
My name is Alexandre Ayoub. I’m the writer, director, and producer of a short film called A Separation (USINE NOIRE PRODUCTION), which I filmed between Lebanon and France.
The film explores the emotional experience of leaving your country behind, something many of us have had to do, sometimes more than once. Through this project, we want to talk honestly about Lebanon: the beauty and the pain, the things we love and the things that break our hearts. It’s also about the struggle of living abroad, missing a place that’s so deeply a part of who you are, even when it’s not always easy to love.
To help bring this story to life, I need to acquire the rights to 15 black and white photographs from Lebanon’s past. These images capture moments, places, and people that deserve to be seen. These photos are essential to the film, but I can’t do it alone... I need your help.
I’m asking for your support to raise the funds needed to secure these rights. This film means everything to me, to my friends, to my family, and to so many people I’ve met along the way. We need to tell our story, more loudly, more truthfully, more proudly, and beyond our borders.
Too often, Lebanon’s history is erased, hidden, or treated as taboo. I want to help change that by making it visible, present, and human.

الفيلم بيحكي عن التجربة العاطفية لترك بلدك ورا ضهرك، شي كتار منّا اضطرّوا يعملوه، وأحياناً أكتر من مرّة. بهالمشروع، بدنا نحكي بصراحة عن لبنان: الجمال والألم، الأشياء اللي منحبّها والأشياء اللي بتكسر قلوبنا. هو كمان عن معاناة الغربة، وكيف بتشتاق لمطرح هو جزء كبير من هويتك، حتى لو مش دايماً سهل تحبّه.
لنقدر نحقّق هالقصة، أنا بحاجة أحصّل على حقوق ١٥ صورة بالأبيض والأسود من ماضي لبنان. هالصور بتوثّق لحظات، أماكن، وأشخاص لازم العالم يشوفون. هالصور أساسية بالفيلم، بس ما فيني أعمل هالشي لحالي... بحتاج مساعدتكن.
