Record rainfall has poured hundreds of millimeters of rain in just hours, far exceeding normal levels for this time of year. These storms caused rivers to overflow, roads and bridges to collapse, and whole neighborhoods to be submerged or wiped out by landslides. Many homes have been destroyed, leaving thousands of people displaced, homeless, and in urgent need of basic supplies. Tragically, the flooding and landslides have already resulted in a significant loss of life, with dozens of confirmed fatalities and others still missing. Emergency teams continue working tirelessly around the clock to find survivors and bring aid to those in need. Families in the region are struggling without shelter, clean water, food, medical care, and other essentials. In the mountainous communities of Gilgit-Baltistan, many young girls carry powerful dreams but face difficult realities. Limited access to educational resources, financial hardship, and seasonal challenges often threaten their ability to continue schooling. Some share textbooks. Some walk long distances in harsh weather. Some are at risk of dropping out — not because of lack of talent, but because of lack of support. As an educator who has worked closely with girls and youth for over eight years, I have seen firsthand how even small educational support can completely transform a student’s confidence and future. This campaign aims to raise 7,000 USD to directly empower 100 underprivileged girls through: • Essential learning kits (books, school bags, stationery) • Winter support to prevent seasonal dropouts • Digital literacy workshops • Confidence-building and leadership sessions • Career guidance and mentorship programs Our mission is simple: ensure that financial limitations do not silence potential. Maya is a loving mother and devoted wife who is fighting for her life so she can return to her precious 4-year-old daughter, Marie-Joe. In August 2025, Maya was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an aggressive form of blood cancer. Since that day, her life and the life of her family has changed completely. Maya has been courageously battling this disease, but her journey is far from over. To survive, she urgently needs continued chemotherapy treatment and a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, these life-saving procedures can only be performed at AUH Lebanon, and the costs are not covered by her insurance. In addition to the transplant and hospital care, Maya requires a critical medication called Revumenib. This medicine is only available in the United States. She needs 2 boxes per month for 9 months,a total of 18 boxes. Each box costs approximately 30,000, bringing the medication total alone to 540,000. We are also fighting to secure consistent access to this treatment. Below is a breakdown of the estimated costs needed to give Maya a real chance at survival: -Revumenib (6 months – 2 units/month): 360,000 -Bone Marrow Transplant Operation (AUH): 150,000 -AUH Hospital Stay (150 nights at 1,000/night): 150,000 Total Estimated Cost: 660,000 USD* * we lowered the amount from 940,000$ that was initially requested in this campaign because the difference was raised through wish money transfer (lebanon) & omt (lebanon) - as of 04/03/2026 This overwhelming financial burden is something no family should face alone, especially while fighting cancer.
