A Safe Home for My Mother
I’m asking for help because my mother and my younger brother are not safe. My mother is a single woman in her fifties, living alone with her son in a dangerous area because it’s all she can afford. She has already been robbed—targeted because she is a woman living alone. Every night, she locks her door knowing it may not be enough. Her salary barely pays rent and food. That’s it. No savings. No backup. No margin for illness, age, or emergencies. If she stops working for even a short time, she and her child end up on the street. This is not a future fear. This is a current reality. Not to mention that my mother is diagnosed with thyroid cancer and cannot afford to visit the doctors or even get treatment. I try to help as much as I can, but I cannot secure her safety on my own. Being the eldest daughter does not come with the income needed to protect her. Love does not pay rent. Effort does not create safety. If you contribute to this fundraiser, you are not “donating.” You are moving a woman and a child out of danger. You are putting them in a safer place to sleep. You are giving them time and stability instead of constant fear. This is about survival. This is about safety. This is about dignity. If you can help, please do. For the past two years, Josephine has been enduring a long and difficult battle with throat cancer and COPD, which severely affected her lungs. She underwent a tracheostomy and has faced countless treatments, hospital visits, and daily challenges. Despite the pain, the inability to eat, and the heavy medications and antibiotics, my mother has never lost her strength or hope. She continues to fight with incredible courage. Today, she needs our support more than ever. The medical expenses, ongoing treatments, and daily care have placed an overwhelming financial burden on our family. Doctors have now recommended a PEG procedure (a feeding tube inserted into the stomach) so she can receive proper nutrition, as she is no longer able to eat or drink by mouth. She needs your support to continue her treatment and access the medications she depends on. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by us during this difficult time. Mercy community school foundation is a nonprofit making organization dedicated to providing free education and support to orphaned students who are coming from dervise and Challenging back grounds. despite our best efforts we are facing the critical shortages infrastructure challenges including the shortages of classrooms and sanitation facilities. Currently we are renting a small church building it has no space and infrastructure to accommodate our growing number of orphaned population. Further more the own going drought in Zambia has made it difficult to feed our students.
