Dear friends and supporters, I am reaching out to you with a humble heart and a hopeful spirit. I have been given a life-changing opportunity to pursue my dreams of becoming a Full Stack Developer at CodeOp, an exceptional international tech school dedicated to empowering women, trans, and nonbinary individuals in the tech industry. As a recipient of a scholarship covering 50% of my tuition, I am now seeking your generosity to raise the remaining $5000 within the next 30 days. This is not just a call for financial support; it's an invitation for you to be my beacon of hope in this challenging journey.
Living in Chile with my elderly father, I have faced severe financial hardships, especially during the harsh winter months when even the cost of heating became a luxury. Our struggle to make ends meet and put meals on the table has been overwhelming. Despite my relentless efforts to secure a job in UX design, the limitations imposed by my non-citizen status have hindered my ability to work legally. The prospect of attaining citizenship is a lengthy process, adding to the hurdles I already face.
My love for technology blossomed during the unprecedented events of 2020 when the world shifted online. It was then that I recognized my passion for becoming a part of the tech solution. With a Master of Science degree from Kent State University, the doors to many opportunities in tech remained elusive. Despite working as a web content specialist, navigating the realm of UX without adequate support led to setbacks, ultimately resulting in a layoff.
My decision to transition into Full Stack Development is motivated by my deep-seated fascination with logic, problem-solving, and the art of creating innovative technological solutions. The intricate process of amalgamating different programming languages to craft digital marvels ignites a fire within me. Moreover, mastering full stack development will not only enrich my skill set but also bridge the gaps that inhibit me from realizing my potential in the ever-evolving job market.
Embracing my identity as a proud queer, transgender man, I refuse to conceal my authentic self from potential employers, even though the latent biases in hiring processes may cast doubts on my prospects. This is why CodeOp's inclusive community feels like a ray of light in my journey. By attending their bootcamp, I aim not only to enhance my technical prowess but also to flourish in an environment that embraces diversity and fosters growth.
