Akkar Disaster Relief Fundraiser
A large tank of fuel exploded in Akkar (Lebanon) this morning, killing at least 20 people and injuring at least 79. The disaster occurred in the midst of a severe fuel shortage crisis which has caused long power cuts all across Lebanon, threatening most sectors including healthcare. In an effort to provide relief for this disaster, Baytna Baytak, Lebanon Needs and Basecamp are launching this fundraiser in order to provide much needed help on the ground. Georges is a hardworking lebanese guy who worked very hard for years and lost it all due to suffocating circumstances in the blink of an eye . Opening a restaurant had always been his dream , he used the money he had and took loans in order to make that dream come true . He did his project in the middle of Beirut - Mar Mikhael area. Few months later he was diagnosed with teratoma ( a rare type of Cancer ) , he underwent various operations followed by six months chemotherapy treatment. August 4th 2020 , he lost his newly opened restaurant , the project he had invested in every penny he had along with huge bank loans, in the infamous Beirut port explosion (most powerful Non-nuclear explosion of the 21st century) and not even been approached by anyone from the public sector after one year from the explosion date in an attempt to help him at least pay the restaurant loans . Now Georges is a man who lost everything and is Struggling to beat Cancer. He is Struggling to pay pack huge debts and his treatment bills. He is Struggling on all levels with very little chance of success - if any , especially in this tough period. Haddak Men B3id / Assistance from a Distance was co-founded by 9 childhood friends in April 2020 and aims to lessen poverty and hunger among struggling families in Lebanon by mobilizing a community of socially responsible change makers wanting to end food insecurity, one food box at a time. So far Haddak Men B3id has helped more than 550 families across all regions in Lebanon with livelihood assistance. Our next project is to assist 25 families with: - Food parcels - Meat and Chicken Coupons - Milk for children - Hygiene products - Sanitary Pads Our team is made up of youthful changemakers, friends since childhood, and is expanding to include other youth in our voluntary work. Along with supporting our community, we believe in supporting the youth by building on their capacities to extend helping hands in an environment of friendship and support.

Hello, i am doing this fundraising for my lovely brother. Georges is a person who always lent a hand to any person in need without asking about their names or religion. Now Georges is in need of your help after a long series of unfortunate events that have hit him hard. May 2020, he was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. He underwent an operation followed by six months of chemotherapy. August 4th 2020, he lost his newly opened restaurant located in Mar Mikhael, the project he had invested every penny he had with huge loans. February 2021, he was diagnosed with severe liver infection and he is currently undergoing a long treatment. Now Georges is struggling to pay his medical bills.
