Ben is Running the Capital Ring for Lebanon
I've decided that I will run the CAPITAL RING for my birthday in July, and I will try to raise £1000 for Beit El Baraka, a non-profit that offers dignity and support to Lebanese families that have been deprived of their basic needs and rights. It's hard to know where to focus our efforts at the moment, but between the genocide in Gaza, settler violence in the West Bank and the apocalyptic war crimes that have taken place in Iran, there has also been a disturbing campaign of bombing, land annexation and displacement of at least 1.3 million in Lebanon, presumably to live and die in tents for the rest of their lives like so many Palestinians. Since I wrote this they dropped 100 bombs on Beirut in 10 minutes, killing 300+ and injuring 1000s of civilians, without warning. Yes, Israel and the USA are terrorist states, it's hard to comprehend the damage done to humanity and where it ends. So the CAPITAL RING is a 126 kilometer walkable loop which completely surrounds London. I will sensibly do this over two days, most likely July 7th and 8th, beginning at Springfield Park in Hackney, and running counter clockwise, I'll find myself at Richmond Park roughly halfway through, where I will find an inn for the night. So it will be two 63km ultramarathons back to back. It'll test every fibre of my patience, it will be lonely and irritating and maddening and painful and drudgery but I’M SURE a wonderful time along with all that. I’ve called London my home for 15 happy years and the idea of shuffling round it in a 100 mile loop and doing something about this psychotic violence, it feels like the right way to spend my birthday. If anyone would like to join me in jogging a section (there are 15), I will link to the gpx route here so you can see if I'm I’m your neighbourhood on either of the two days!

On behalf of our residents with special needs, our dedicated supervisors and staff, and the displaced families who have fled their homes due to ongoing bombardment, we would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to you. Your support of our vocational programme has provided our residents with vital psychological and moral encouragement. By encouraging their active participation, you have boosted their self-confidence and recognised their valuable contributions to society. This programme sends a message of solidarity and love to families facing incredibly difficult circumstances. Our residents took great pride in assembling 150 'Welfare Wheat' bags. Together, we distributed these bags to 150 families (including children and adults) who are currently seeking refuge at "Jamil Lahoud Public High School" in Baabdat. Each bag, filled with local grains, makdous, rose syrup and two bars of artisanal soap, supports not only the displaced, but also the small-scale farmers we source from. These activities offer our residents a vital distraction from the constant sounds of aircraft and shelling. "Beirut is wounded, and our people need our support now more than ever. Your contributions offer them much-needed relief. We are striving to reach every person in need in collaboration with local associations on the ground." May you be rewarded for your generosity and continued efforts. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and your dedication to our mission.

Emergency Help Needed After Tornado and Snake Bite

Emergency Help Needed After Tornado and Snake Bite
🌪️🐍 Emergency Help Needed After Tornado and Snake Bite Dear friends, I’m reaching out in a time of extreme hardship and urgency. Recently, my home in Ditwa was struck by a devastating tornado. In the chaos, I tried to save my kitchen and some essential belongings, but in my effort, I fell into an open drainage hole. While trapped inside the drainage, I was bitten by a viper. The pain was unbearable, and the risk to my life was severe. I managed to get out and seek help, but despite my efforts, I have not been able to complete all the necessary medical scans and treatments due to financial constraints. I have attached photos and medical reports to show the seriousness of my situation. I have reached out to the government multiple times for assistance, but unfortunately, no help has come so far. The costs of medical care, medications, and recovery, combined with the damages to my home, are far beyond what I can manage alone. I humbly ask for your support. Any contribution will help me cover urgent medical expenses and start rebuilding my home and life after this disaster. Donations can be sent directly to my Bank of Ceylon account: Account Name: [Your Name] Account Number: 88682595 Branch: Naula 092 SWIFT Code: BCEYLKLX From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who can spare a moment to help, share my story, or contribute. Your support, prayers, and compassion mean everything to me right now. 🙏💛
