My family is poor. I want to education

Emergency

My family is poor. I want to education
Request for Urgent Support and Educational Assistance Subject: Appeal for Support Following the Cyclone Ditva Tragedy To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this with a heavy heart to share my story and seek your kind assistance during the most difficult period of my life. My name is Pawani Dhamsa, and I am a Physical Science student from Ibbagamuwa, Sri Lanka. Four months ago, my life was forever changed when Cyclone Ditva struck our village. In a devastating landslide, I lost both my mother and my grandfather. Having lost my father in an accident when I was very young, my mother was our sole provider and our strength. She worked tirelessly to ensure my sister and I had everything we needed to succeed. Today, we have nothing left. Our home was completely destroyed, and with it, all our belongings—our clothes, books, and even our essential documents like Birth Certificates and National Identity Cards. I am currently living with my 65-year-old grandmother and my younger sister. My grandmother, though grieving and unwell, tries her best to care for us, but we are struggling to survive. My Academic Background: Education has always been my priority, as it was my mother’s greatest wish for us. O/L Results: I achieved 8 As and 1 B. Current Status: I am a candidate for the Advanced Level (Maths stream) examinations. My sister is also preparing for her Ordinary Level exams. The Current Struggle: Since the tragedy, I have found it nearly impossible to continue my studies. We lack the funds for transport to classes, stationery, and even basic medication for my grandmother. My sister has had to stop her tuition classes because we simply cannot afford the fees. We are surviving on the small amount of government compensation provided, but it is not enough to rebuild our lives or secure our education. My Request: I am determined to honor my mother’s memory by succeeding in my exams and becoming a person of good character who can provide for my family. I am kindly seeking financial support for: Educational expenses (Tuition fees and learning materials for my sister and me). Medical care for my grandmother. Basic living necessities as we attempt to recover from the loss of our home. Any contribution, no matter how small, will give us the hope and the means to stand on our feet again. My mother always taught us to live with dignity, and I am committed to working hard to ensure your kindness is not wasted. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any help you may be able to provide. With gratitude, Pawani Dhamsa Ibbagamuwa, Sri Lanka

Support Lebanon's Steadfastness

Emergency

Support Lebanon's Steadfastness
Lebanon endures yet another round of zio-american terror. If you're following the news, you already know that Israel's genocidal war against Lebanon continues, completing its first month already. The displacement crisis is growing with every ethnic cleansing order under threat issued by israel, exerting increasing pressures on an already disintegrating infrastructure. Over the past month, the settler colony of israel ordered the forced displacement of residents of massive regions of the country - the entirety of the south of the Litani river (130 towns), the entirety of the densely populated southern suburb of Beirut, the tens of towns in the Zahrani- southern lebanon, and most recently the town KfarHatta in Sidon  - packed with thousands of already displaced families - explicit expulsion orders under threat of annihilation. A crisis of unprecedented internal displacement is unfolding with over a million people - thousands of families now sheltering in overcrowded schools, temporary shelters, cars, and public spaces, with very limited access to basic necessities - exerting increasing pressures on an already disintegrating infrastructure. Many remain in tents on the capital's sidewalks. Many have even opted to go back to their homes despite the risk.  With the ever so slow and inadequate governmental action, community networks across the country have been mobilizing to support families with food, shelter, medicine, and essential supplies. I am helping raise funds to support some of these networks currently assisting displaced families on the ground, namely my friend Fatima who continues to tend to families with basic supplies in coordination with friends in Saida who had worked with over 2000 families in the 2024 war; and who is supporting 800 people sheltering in the Capuchin school in Hamra; "Egna Legna", a migrant-led group offering support for migrant domestic workers facing both displacement and racial discrimination; a group of 8 friends who recently started assembling hygiene kits to families currently living in tents at Ramlet El Bayda and Biel; and groups rescuing and feeding stray animals and pets in targeted areas; as well as individuals serving as bridges between displaced families and initiatives supplying essentials. The need is dire, and without these initiatives, people are left to fend for themselves. The raised funds will be transferred directly to these entities/individuals. If you are able to contribute, any support big or small can make a difference.

Everyday is a fight for survival

Emergency

Everyday is a fight for survival
We fled our home countries in search of safety, but what we found here is another form of suffering. Every day is a fight for survival. We face hostility, discrimination, and the constant fear of violence simply because of who we are. As LGBT people, we are not only outsiders in the refugee community but also rejected by the very systems that are supposed to protect us. Our living conditions are dire. Many days, we go to bed hungry. There is never enough to eat, and our bodies grow weaker each day. Clean drinking water is scarce, and we are often forced to drink unsafe water that makes us sick. When illness spreads in the camp, we have no access to proper medicine or healthcare. Even treatable conditions can become life-threatening. The rainy season is here, and our shelters are falling apart. The ground floods, leaving us cold, wet, and vulnerable. On top of this, we endure constant stigma. Being LGBT in this environment makes us targets for abuse and harassment. It often feels like the world has forgotten us. But we have not given up hope. We believe that with your support, we can survive this and work toward a safer future. We are raising funds to cover the most urgent needs: Food supplies to keep us alive and healthy. Clean water and basic sanitation to prevent disease. Essential medication and healthcare support. Stronger shelter to protect us during the rains. Advocacy and resources to help us find resettlement in safer countries where we can live freely and without fear. Your donation, no matter the size, will directly impact our survival and give us a chance to live with dignity. Please stand with us in solidarity. Together, we can make it through this darkness and move toward a brighter, safer future.
