Building Bridges, Saving Lives in Brgy. De La Paz
Bayanihan Para sa Casas: Build a Bridge, Save a Life Imagine being trapped in your own home by rising floodwaters. Imagine a simple walk to school or the market becoming a dangerous, life-threatening journey. For the families of Barrio Casas in Biñan, Laguna, this is not a distant thought—it is a terrifying reality every time the typhoons roll in. Our community is resilient, hardworking, and full of heart. But when the rains fall, the pathways disappear, streams swell into raging torrents, and our lives are put on hold. Children miss their education, the elderly are cut off from medical care, and a sense of fear hangs over our homes. Our Heroes are Ready. Their Equipment is Not. In these critical moments, our first line of defense is the Bantay-Bayan ng Casas, a brave team of volunteer rescuers from our own community. They are our neighbors, friends, and family who courageously face the floods to keep us safe. They have the will, the training, and the heart to save lives, but they lack the basic tools to do their job safely and effectively. They navigate treacherous waters without a proper emergency boat and face the darkness without adequate lighting. This is where you can become a hero for Casas. We are launching the "Bayanihan Para sa Casas" campaign with two clear, life-saving goals: Build Sturdy Wooden Footbridges: We will construct [e.g., 3] safe, elevated wooden bridges over the most dangerous waterways. These bridges will be a lifeline, ensuring that our community remains connected and that daily life can continue, rain or shine. They are more than just wood and nails; they are bridges to education, to health, and to hope. Equip Our Volunteer Rescuers: We will purchase one dedicated emergency boat and essential rescue gear—life vests, ropes, radios, and first-aid kits. This will empower our Bantay-Bayan volunteers to turn their courage into swift, effective action, ensuring no call for help goes unanswered. Your Support Creates a Wave of Change Every single peso you donate will go directly to the materials and equipment that will protect our community for years to come. We are raising ₱250,000 to fund this urgent project. A ₱500 donation can provide life vests for a family. A ₱1,000 donation can buy crucial construction materials for the bridges. A ₱5,000 donation helps us get closer to our goal for the emergency boat. Join us in the spirit of "Bayanihan"—the Filipino tradition of a community coming together to achieve the impossible. Your generosity will build more than just a bridge; it will build a safer, stronger, and more resilient future for the children, parents, and grandparents of Barrio Casas. From the bottom of our hearts, maraming salamat po. Thank you for being our bridge of hope. #BayanihanParaSaCasas

Emergency surgery

Emergency

Emergency surgery
My name is Benese a devoted father, husband, and former primary school teacher from Rwanda. For years, my small family lived simply but peacefully. We had food on the table, a modest home, and hope for a brighter future. But everything changed in January 2025. That morning, my wife was on her way to work when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver. She sustained severe back injuries and was hospitalized for three long months. The driver was never identified. No one came forward. No insurance helped. From the day of the accident, we have received no external support. I spent everything I had my savings, my job, and my strength just to keep her alive. I borrowed from banks, friends, and anyone willing to listen, but now, we are overwhelmed with debt. Today, my wife is still suffering and urgently needs back surgery to avoid permanent damage and unbearable pain. But we can no longer afford it. While caring for her and our young daughter, I lost my job. We are now living with no food security, no income, and no peace of mind. And our daughter is out of school. Still, I’m holding on. I am writing to ask for help not out of shame, but out of hope that good people still exist. What We Need Urgently: • Emergency surgery for my wife to treat her worsening back injury • Medical debt relief for the costs that saved her life • Rent assistance to avoid eviction • Support for food and basic needs • Help sending our daughter back to school • A chance to rebuild through work and stability Even the smallest contribution could change our lives. A single act of kindness could restore our hope and save a family on the edge. How to Support Us: Unfortunately, PayPal does not support fund reception in Rwanda. However, you can support us in the following ways: • Email me directly at: benesejean@gmail.com • Crypto Wallet (ETH/ERC-20): 0x4b6e994c15e7def1d6b8874e1ebdcb92e3a741d1 • Western Union can be used to send support via my email: benesejean@gmail.com From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story. If you can help or simply share this message with someone who can—you could be the reason we survive this crisis. May you be blessed for your kindness. With love and gratitude, Benese
