Training Programs (USD 150,000): Train 1,000 miners, prioritizing women, on mercury-free techniques and safety protocols. Modelled on pGOLD’s training in Sumatera, costing ~USD 150/miner.
Market Access and Formalization (USD 50,000): Develop partnerships with ethical buyers (e.g., Gardens of the Sun) and support legal permits to connect miners to formal markets, increasing income by 15-20%.
Community Outreach and Education (USD 30,000): Raise awareness in ASGM communities about mercury’s dangers and promote adoption of new methods through workshops and local leaders.
Operational and Admin Costs (USD 20,000): Cover logistics, staff, and Fundahope’s platform fees (typically 5-7% of donations).
Timeline (1-Year Plan)
Month 1-2 (May-Jun 2025): Launch campaign, finalize equipment suppliers, and begin social media promotion.
Month 3-6 (Jul-Oct 2025): Reach USD 200,000, purchase initial equipment, and start pilot training in 2 communities (e.g., Bombana, Sulawesi).
