Support a Widow and Her Children
My Story – In My Own Words My husband passed away in 2022 after fighting kidney disease for two long years. He was on dialysis. A transplant was planned, but his body couldn’t take it anymore. During those two years, everything we had was spent on his treatment. We sold our car. We sold my jewelry. We borrowed money from relatives. Still, I lost him. Today, I am alone with six children. Saleem (26) – graduate, still unemployed Saad (21) – studying Cyber Security in university on scholarship Sughrah (19) – college complete, no job Sami (16) – in school Wali (12) – in school Saba (10) – in school Right now, we live in a house that was given to my husband by his company. After his death, they allowed us to stay for some time. But now they have given us a clear deadline: 2 May 2026. After that, we must leave. We do have our own house, but it is not livable at all. Construction started when my husband was alive. Then his illness came. Then the debt. Then his death. Everything stopped. Today, that house has: A roof that is not waterproof No proper floor No doors or windows No bathroom fittings No electricity No kitchen No drainage No water tank It is only a structure. My children cannot live there safely. How We Are Surviving I receive a pension of 50,000 PKR per month. My eldest son does daily labor when he finds work and earns around 800 PKR a day. We still carry a debt of 1,000,000 PKR from medical treatment. I have nothing left to sell. If I had anything, I would never be here asking for help. My Daily Fear Soon we will be forced to leave this house. And every day I keep asking myself: Where will we go? How will I manage rent, food, school, and bills together? How will I protect my children? I have a house but I cannot live in it. My Only Wish I don’t want a big life. I don’t want luxury. I only want: A safe roof A clean floor A small bathroom A simple kitchen Electricity and water And a door I can lock at night without fear If this house becomes livable, my life will become stable. I can struggle with food. I can work hard. But without a safe home, everything feels impossible. I am not here for sympathy. I am here because I truly have no other door left to knock on. If you can help us, even a little you will not just be helping me. You will be protecting six children from becoming homeless. From a broken mother’s heart thank you for even reading this. How Your Donation Will Be Used I want to be very clear and honest about where your help will go. Every rupee will be used only for my children and to make our unfinished house safe and livable. Your support will be used for: Roof waterproofing – so rain and heat don’t destroy the house Floor completion – so my children are not forced to live on broken cement Doors and windows – for safety, privacy, and protection Bathroom fittings – for basic hygiene and dignity Electric wiring & lights – so my children can study at night Small kitchen setup – to cook food safely Water tank & drainage – for clean water and sanitation Along with construction, donations will also help with our basic survival needs, including: Daily food and necessity for my children Very basic furniture (beds/mats, stove, small table) School expenses (fees, uniforms, books, shoes) If any amount is left after making the house livable, it will be kept safely for my daughter’s future marriage, so I can fulfill this responsibility with dignity when the time comes. I promise that nothing will be wasted. This help is not for comfort or luxury — it is only for shelter, food, education, and my children’s future safety.

A Cyclone Destroyed Our House

A Cyclone Destroyed Our House
Over the past few days, the powerful Cyclone Ditva that hit Sri Lanka brought extremely heavy rainfall to our area. The continuous rain quickly turned into severe flooding. The water levels rose higher and higher, and soon, the entire region we lived in was submerged. We watched helplessly as the floodwaters swallowed roads, trees, and ultimately the area we had lived in for years. As the situation worsened, the ground beneath our house began to shake. Authorities warned us to evacuate immediately as the slope behind our house had become unstable. Hoping and praying that the situation wouldn't get any worse, we left the house with only the clothes we were wearing. But just as we were about to escape, a massive landslide occurred. Tons of earth and rock crashed down on our house, burying everything we had worked so hard to build. The house we lived in, the land we cared for, and everything inside – all were destroyed in an instant. When we returned later to see what was left, the scene was heartbreaking. Our house was no longer recognizable. It had completely collapsed and was buried under layers of mud, rocks, and debris. Furniture, clothing, documents, tools, equipment - everything had been washed away or crushed beyond repair. It took years of sacrifice, savings, and effort to build that house. Seeing it reduced to broken pieces and mud was a pain we cannot easily express. Now we have no place to live. We are temporarily staying with relatives and neighbors, but this is not a long-term solution. We cannot afford to rebuild a house with nothing, especially after such a disaster. The cost of construction materials, labor, and simply starting life over is too much for us to bear on our own. We have lost the basic necessities we need every day: food, clothing, bedding, even school supplies. So we humbly ask for help. Any support, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to rebuilding our lives. Your kindness will help us begin to build a safe place to live again. It will help protect our family and give us hope during this extremely difficult time. The loss we have suffered is irreversible, but with your generosity we can rise again. We kindly ask for your support to rebuild our home and restore our lives.
