💔 From Stability to Sudden Crisis
Before the pandemic, I worked hard in Dubai to provide a stable life for my family. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I lost my job, forcing us to return to Sri Lanka. Determined to survive, I started a small business to support my family.
Then, disaster struck. I was involved in a severe street accident that completely shattered my left leg. I underwent major surgery at the Kandy Government Hospital and was confined to strict bed rest for eight agonizing months. I lost my ability to work, and my small business collapsed.
🌊 Compounding Natural Disasters
Just as we were trying to recover from the medical crisis, severe flooding hit Sri Lanka. The floods destroyed our remaining business stock. To survive, I had to spend every last rupee of my savings on urgent medical care, prescriptions, and basic food for my family.
🏠 The Urgent Burden Today
Today, I have absolutely no source of income. We live in a rented house that costs LKR 40,000 per month, and we are now 4 months behind on rent. Because of this financial ruin, I have also been unable to pay my children's school fees for the last 4 months. My children are facing the risk of losing their education, and we face immediate eviction.
