My name is Seneth Desmitha, and I have two younger brothers and a little sister. When my sister was born, she did not receive enough oxygen to her brain, and because of that she is unable to walk, sit, or do normal activities like other children. Every month, we have to take her to a hospital in Colombo for treatment, and traveling by bus with her is very difficult. When we consider travel and medical expenses, it costs around 40,000 LKR, which is about $133 USD per month, and it is a heavy burden for our family. My father works in a private garment factory and earns about 60,000 LKR (around $200 USD) per month, which is not enough for our needs, and sometimes we even struggle to afford meals. I didn’t expect to be writing this. I’m currently in Lebanon, and over the past period — with everything happening here — my health has taken a serious hit. What I’ve been dealing with quietly for a long time has now reached a point where I can’t ignore it anymore. It’s gotten serious. I’ve seen doctors, and the reality is clear: I need to step away and take care of my health properly and urgently. Not partially, not while working — but fully. I’ve made the decision to enter a 90-day recovery program where I can focus on healing — physically and mentally — and give myself a real chance to stabilize and come back strong. The hard part is this: I’m self-employed, and I support my family.  So stepping away from work means losing income, while still carrying all my responsibilities. Here’s what I’m facing: Recovery program (3 months): $10,500 Living and family responsibilities during that time: ~$18,000 Total needed: $28,500 I’m not used to asking for help like this. If you know me, you know I’ve always been the one supporting others — through coaching, through work, through life. And I will continue to do that. Magui, a 40-year-old mother of two, found out she was pregnant with her third… and in that same moment, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her baby was the reason they caught it before it spread. For 2 years, she fought through chemo, surgeries, and treatment, all while raising her children and trying to stay strong while her husband was abroad, working to support her as much as he could. At the same time, the war in South Lebanon forced her to leave her home and everything behind. She kept going. And she made it through. But just 3 months later… the cancer came back. It has now been diagnosed in her bones, specifically in her neck and her back. Today, Maguy urgently needs to start radiation therapy to control it and prevent it from spreading further. Doctors have stressed that treatment must begin within the next 1 to 2 weeks MAX. She needs $12,000 to begin this phase of treatment, something she can’t afford alone. Any help, even the smallest, can truly make a difference. It can give Maguy the chance to keep fighting, to heal, and to be there for her children. Please help Magui fight cancer.
