Help a stateless Palestinian refugee
Obieda's story Help a Palestinian Refugee Rebuild His Life and Access Medical Care My name is Obaida. I am a Palestinian refugee living in Lebanon, where I have spent most of my life. Like many refugees here, my family and I live under extremely difficult economic conditions. We are struggling to meet even our most basic needs. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a lifelong mental health condition that requires continuous treatment, stability, and medical care. Living with this illness while facing poverty, uncertainty, and displacement has been overwhelming. In an attempt to change my situation and support my family, I traveled to South Africa and applied for asylum, hoping for safety and a chance at a dignified life. Unfortunately, my asylum request was rejected. After this rejection, the psychological pressure became unbearable, and I went through a very dark period in my life. I survived a serious crisis, and since then I have been trying to focus on healing and rebuilding myself. Today, I am asking for your help for two main reasons: To access proper medical treatment and mental health care so I can live with bipolar disorder in a stable and healthy way To find a legal and safe opportunity outside Lebanon that would allow me to improve my life and help support my family Your support—no matter how small—can help me receive treatment, regain stability, and work toward a future with dignity and hope. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean a great deal to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your kindness and humanity

Seeking support for my delayed bypass surgery

Seeking support for my delayed bypass surgery
Dear Sir/Madam, I humbly write to you at a very difficult and uncertain moment in my life, seeking your kind compassion and support. I am a 62-year-old married man suffering from severe heart disease and in urgent need of bypass surgery. This surgery has already been delayed for nearly ten months, placing my life at constant risk. Each passing day brings fear and uncertainty, as my doctors have warned that further delays could be life-threatening. My only child is currently studying at university and depends entirely on me. I do not own a permanent home and live in rented accommodation. By profession, I am a human rights activist and have spent my life working to support justice and dignity for others. Until recently, I was employed by an NGO under a project supported by USAID. Unfortunately, due to the sudden suspension of USAID funding, I lost my job without warning. Along with my employment, I also lost my medical insurance and my only stable source of income. Today, I survive solely on the limited and uncertain support of relatives and friends. Although I have registered for bypass surgery at a government hospital, the waiting period often exceeds one year. Given the seriousness of my condition, remaining on such a long waiting list is extremely dangerous and could cost me my life. In desperation, I explored the option of undergoing the surgery at a private hospital. I was informed that the total cost would be approximately LKR 2.3 million (USD 7,550), an amount far beyond my reach. While some assistance may be available through the Sri Lanka President’s Fund, the maximum support is limited to LKR 200,000 (USD 655), which covers only a small fraction of the required cost. With deep humility, I respectfully appeal for your assistance in helping me raise at least LKR 200,000 (USD 6,550) toward my life-saving bypass surgery. Any support, no matter how small, would bring me closer to survival and allow me the chance to continue caring for my family and contributing to society. To ensure full transparency, I have attached the following documents for verification: 1. Video copy of the angiogram examination 2. Cost estimate issued by a private hospital for the bypass surgery 3. Relevant medical certificates I am ready to provide any additional information or documentation if required. I place my hope in your kindness and understanding during this critical time. Thank you for taking the time to read my appeal and for any help you may be able to extend. Yours sincerely, S. P.
