We are fundraising for our beloved Suzan Awar Abdelkhalek, a 53-year-old mother who is currently battling Stage IVB Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma. After extensive testing at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), she was diagnosed with advanced-stage Hodgkin lymphoma with extranodal involvement. Her doctors have urgently recommended starting intensive chemotherapy treatment (BRECADD protocol), along with multiple hospital admissions, scans, lab tests, and bone marrow procedures. Unfortunately, the cost of treatment in Lebanon is extremely high and far beyond what our family can afford. We are doing everything we can, but we can't fight this battle alone. For the past two years, Josephine has been bravely battling throat cancer and COPD, which severely affected her lungs. She underwent a tracheostomy and has faced countless treatments, hospital visits, and daily challenges. Despite the pain, the inability to eat, and the heavy medications and antibiotics, my mother has never lost her strength or hope. She continues to fight with incredible courage. Today, she needs our support more than ever. The medical expenses, ongoing treatments, and daily care have placed an overwhelming financial burden on our family. Doctors have now recommended a PEG procedure (a feeding tube inserted into the stomach) so she can receive proper nutrition, as she is no longer able to eat or drink by mouth. Through partnerships with local organizations, we'll be providing healthcare and educational resources to make a tangible difference in their lives. The Need is Real Sri Lanka is facing a growing eldercare deficit, with 12.3% of the population aged 60 or older, making it the country with the highest proportion of older adults in South Asia. Meanwhile, children in rural and remote areas struggle to access quality education, with one in four under the age of five stunted. Our initiative aims to address these pressing issues . Our Focus Areas: • Healthcare for Elders: Medical check-ups, medicines, and health awareness sessions to promote healthy aging • Education for Kids: School supplies, scholarships, and tutoring to empower the next generation Recent Success: Healthcare Camp and School Item Distribution Last week, our team successfully organized a healthcare camp and distributed school items to elders and kids in need, thanks to generous local donations. The event saw 50 beneficiaries, with medical check-ups for 25 elders & 25 kids receiving school supplies. This initiative is a testament to the power of community support and our commitment to serving the vulnerable. I wish I didn’t have to write this, for the second time I'm back here. I wish my daddy were healthy, laughing, living his life without pain. But today, he is fighting for his life, and I don’t know how much longer he can. In just a few weeks, everything has changed. A diagnosis of lung cancer turned our world upside down—but now it’s not just the cancer. His heart is failing, despite 11 bypass surgeries he has already endured. His kidneys are struggling, and dialysis leaves him weak and in pain. And on top of everything, he has suffered a massive brain hemorrhage. Four major health crises, all at the same time, and every day feels like we are running out of time. He is only 60 years old. He is my daddy—the man who taught me to fight, to love, to never give up. Title: Help a Palestinian Refugee Rebuild His Life and Access Medical Care My name is Obaida. I am a Palestinian refugee living in Lebanon, where I have spent most of my life. Like many refugees here, my family and I live under extremely difficult economic conditions. We are struggling to meet even our most basic needs. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a lifelong mental health condition that requires continuous treatment, stability, and medical care. Living with this illness while facing poverty, uncertainty, and displacement has been overwhelming. In an attempt to change my situation and support my family, I traveled to South Africa and applied for asylum, hoping for safety and a chance at a dignified life. Unfortunately, my asylum request was rejected. After this rejection, the psychological pressure became unbearable, and I went through a very dark period in my life. I survived a serious crisis, and since then I have been trying to focus on healing and rebuilding myself. Today, I am asking for your help for two main reasons: To access proper medical treatment and mental health care so I can live with bipolar disorder in a stable and healthy way To find a legal and safe opportunity outside Lebanon that would allow me to improve my life and help support my family Your support—no matter how small—can help me receive treatment, regain stability, and work toward a future with dignity and hope.
