Urgent Mental Health Care for Families in Lebanon
Hi there, I'm Maya - a Lebanese-Brazilian investor focused on supporting mental health companies and nonprofits serving the most vulnerable through early-stage investing and pro bono advisory work, including sitting on the Board of Advisors for Embrace Lebanon.
Please join me in raising emergency funds for Embrace Lebanon, a pioneering, stigma-busting Lebanon-based nonprofit providing urgently needed mental health services to thousands of families experiencing mass displacement and ruthless violence due to the growing Israel-Hezbollah conflict. In a country already grappling with economic collapse and political instability, the ongoing conflict has left over a million people traumatized, displaced, and in urgent need of basic necessities, as well as critical mental health services.
Embrace needs our support to provide critical, urgent services:
- Expand the capacity of their free 24/7 crisis hotline and turn it virtual for their employees' safety (the lifeline received over 500 calls in the past week alone)
- Deploy mobile crisis units to reach displaced populations, offering immediate psychological first aid and psychiatric consultations, including medications for those who have lost access to their prescriptions or pharmacies (they received 150 requests for this in the past week alone)
- Equip their existing mental health clinic with a trauma center for those directly impacted by the violence (e.g., wounded or experienced a loss of a loved one)
In 2023 alone, Embrace helped 12,000 callers of their crisis hotline and provided 5,000+ free and subsidized consultations via their mental health in-person and mobile clinic. They also reached over 5,000 youth in their awareness and rural outreach programs.
Here’s how your contribution can make a difference:
- $500 supports a month of free psychotherapy and logistical assistance for an individual suffering from trauma-related mental health conditions.
- $1,000 covers a full day of operations for the Embrace Lifeline, providing life-saving support to individuals in distress.
- $6,500 supports a mobile mental health team for a month, delivering crisis intervention and direct specialized mental healthcare to displaced, isolated, and underserved communities.
