No crisis is bigger than a child's need to learn. Across Lebanon, hundreds of schools are now serving as emergency shelters. For tens of thousands of displaced families, the classroom that was supposed to shape a child's future is now where they sleep, eat, and wait. Education in Lebanon didn't just pause. It collapsed overnight. But Teach For Lebanon Fellows didn't. They are still there, in classrooms that still stand, on screens when classrooms don't, in hallways of collective shelters when nothing else is possible. They are teaching children how to name their feelings when the world feels upside down. They are sitting with students who don't know if they're ever going home again. They are proving, every single day, that a child in crisis is still a child who can learn. Since 2008, TFL has placed over 341 Fellows across 153 schools, directly reaching 75,500 students. Our data consistently shows that students taught by TFL Fellows improve both academically and in their sense of wellbeing — even in the midst of crisis. Hi everyone, I come from Lebanon MENA region and my name is Ray. Lebanon is ana amazing country as you may have heard or known, despite the ongoing conflicts all the time on our borders, we still love it, we still want to live here. On top of that comes my identity as transgender man, living in Lebanon makes it feels like hell, with all the stigma, the discrimination, the struggles, and the personal spaces and lifestyle. I still remember all the times where I had to hide myself, true real self when it comes to identity and feelings, not only from inside but also on the outside as gender expressions, everyday is a new day that calls me to wear the binder, and believe me it is hell, back pain, difficulty in breathing, sweating body especially in the summer, can you imagine wearing layers to hide the “chest”??? That’s my daily morning painful routine, that I’m working so hard to get it “off of my chest”, moreover, I have another issue which is related to my genital parts down there where I have to remove it for medical purposes (Hysterectomy), that might cause cancer on a later stage (not very later, but still not yet). SO, I’m reaching out with hope in my heart, asking for your kindness and support. I’m trying to raise funds for top surgery and a hysterectomy, so I can finally feel safe in my own body and take a real step toward peace and healing. important steps that will help me overcome dysphoria and finally feel at home in my body. I am Nour, 21 years old, who was supposed to be in third year at Al-Azhar University and writer from Gaza. With the explosion of war my world collapsed. In the beginning, the war on Gaza destroyed many of my dreams, ambitions, and plans after we learned that my college where I was studying had been bombed. But that’s okay, the passion remains forever. But living in the Gaza strip right now is threatening my education and life And I don't want to die under the bombings but to become a doctor. "Medicine is in us, medicine is in our souls" Four words I wrote since I was young when I went on a tour of the hospital with the school science team. Fortunately, it was a brain surgery and I watched it with enthusiasm. From that moment on, the dream of medicine increased even more, and because medicine means everything to me and my family are all doctors so I dream of becoming like them, but living in the Gaza Strip now threatens my education and my life, especially since my university has now been destroyed, and the only solution for me is to leave Gaza to another country in order to continue the path of medicine and achieve my goals... My story began when I finished high school for the year 2022 with a grade of 97.7%, and my family decided that I would travel outside Gaza in order to continue my academic life and study human medicine, because there are more opportunities abroad, but I decided to study in the Gaza Strip, and I did not know at the time that the conditions today It will simply prevent me from achieving my dream, so I decided to continue studying medicine abroad because the future in Gaza is unknown. I am hoping to complete my medical education and not waste more years in Gaza . Thinking about my future continues to stress me out more and more, and even thinking about missing this academic year 2023-2024 makes me feel extremely anxious and anxious about my education and medical career.. Before the war, I had a beautiful life full of optimism, hope, and planning for the future. Therefore, all my goals that I did not achieve in Gaza, with your help, I will achieve them all outside the Gaza Strip. And now, I am facing an uncertain future, and I do not want to stand idly by as my future is destroyed.
