I finished college but my financial crisis has denied me access to my diploma and can’t proceed with anything else My name is Deborah Bowa. In 2024 I completed every class, every exam, and every field placement for my Diploma in Social Work at Evelyn College. I did the work. I passed. But when graduation day came, I had to watch from the sidelines because I still owed a balance of $1500 on my tuition. The college just took pity on me and allowed me sit for the exam but assured me that if I didn’t pay off my tuition balance there’s no way I would collect my paper—and sadly that’s my current predicament. For 3 years I showed up. I worked with real families during field placement. I stayed up late studying case management while working part-time to cover what I could. I’m not asking because I quit — I’m asking because I finished, and now the last bill is the only thing stopping me from holding the diploma I earned. Without that diploma, Evelyn College can’t release my transcript. That means I can’t get licensed, can’t apply for social work jobs, and can’t start doing the work I trained for: helping kids in crisis, supporting families, and being someone’s advocate when they need it most. Your gift does 2 things: 1. It pays off the balance so Evelyn College releases my diploma. 2. It puts a trained Social Worker into the community — someone ready to serve right now. Once it’s paid, my diploma is released and I can finally start the career I’ve worked years for. I’m not looking for a handout. I’m asking for a hand up to close the last chapter. Life has been incredibly difficult for us lately, and honestly, writing this is not easy. My wife and I are currently facing eviction and urgently need help raising $30,000 so we can secure a new place to live and cover moving expenses. Over the past months, we lost our jobs and used every bit of our savings just trying to survive and keep a roof over our heads. I’ve been actively searching for work every single day — applying everywhere, visiting companies and factories in person, and doing everything I can to get back on my feet. Unfortunately, I’m also dealing with a knee injury that has made it difficult for me to continue the type of work I used to do, especially driving. The emotional and financial pressure has become overwhelming. Two days ago, my wife attempted to take her own life by overdosing on medication. Thankfully, we acted quickly, called emergency services, and she was rushed to the hospital in time. She is now recovering, but this experience shook us deeply and showed us how serious our situation has become. We are not giving up. We are still fighting, still searching for work, and still trying to rebuild our lives one step at a time. Dear sir/Dear madam, I'm 49+ years old. I'm unmarried. I'm alone. I took loans from BOC,NSB and PEOPLE'S BANKS. But I'm unable to pay the monthl by housing loan amount morethan 2.5 years. I mortgage my land to NSB bank to make my house. Additionaly to make the house,I took loans from BOC and PEOPLE'S banks. At that time I did a permenent job as a Government nurse. Now I'm doing daily pament jobs. For 12 hours They give me about 2000 Rupees (about 6 dollars) with breakfest and lunch. I'm a heart patient and I'm suffering from a dippression. sometimes I'm in hunger. No money for food. Same way no money for medication. For Sri Lankan citizens this is not good time. Expencess are very high when comparing with the salary. To close all loans I think I should pay about 27000 dollars. I'm sorry rejust because I don't know the exact amount. I think If I find at least about 22000 dollers I can save my home ( NSB loan) I think for PEOPLE'S and BOC banks I should pay about 5000 dollars. To take the actual hard copy values, I should go to the certain banks. I beg your parden just because I don't have money for that. For the time bean please forgive me. I will try my level best to submit my bank details again. I swear what I say is correct according to my acknowledge. But I think there are many facts to keep you hesitating to beleave my story.
