Hello, This is a young father from Mohammandpur, Dhaka. I am reaching out with a heartfelt request for help during one of the most challenging times of my life. My wife is currently in her 8th month of pregnancy with our first child. What should have been a joyful time has turned into a medical crisis. During recent prenatal checkups, doctors discovered that she has gallstones (cholelithiasis) with elevated pancreatic enzymes. Her amylase and lipase levels are critically high, exceeding 1000, indicating acute pancreatitis. This serious condition requires immediate medical attention and careful monitoring throughout her pregnancy. We have incurred significant medical expenses already. My wife is under the care of Sappo Medical Hospital, where she will deliver. The estimated cost for her remaining prenatal care and safe delivery is approximately $1,000. Additionally, I have taken a loan of over $600 to cover recent diagnostic tests, medical bills, and essential medications. I must repay this loan within one month. Unfortunately, I recently lost my job, and I am currently unemployed. As a first-time father, I am struggling to manage these unexpected expenses while ensuring my wife receives the best medical care possible. Every day is stressful as I watch my wife's health complications and worry about our baby's safety. I am not asking for charity, but for help during this emergency. It’s a yearly campaign that aims to collect food and hygiene items, and bread, to be distributed to families & children in need during this holy season. It’s a great opportunity to spread joy and bring hope to those in need. BASSMA is reaching out to you today to be able to help 500 families celebrate these special occasions with dignity, happiness and love. Thanks to your generous donations, we will be able to offer to each family one food pack, one hygiene pack & one bread pack during the 3 months of February, March & April 2026. Therefore, the total needed is $55,000 (25$ for the food pack, 25$ for the hygiene pack, 5$ for the bread pack, for 500 families). You can make a financial donation to help us provide these monthly packs to our families: 1- The food pack (25$) contains: sunflower oil, rice, burghul, luncheon meat, luncheon chicken, lentil, salt, thyme, tomato paste, pasta, tuna, cheese, jam, sardine, milk, fava beans, green peas and chick peas. 2- The hygiene pack (25$) contains: interfold towels, toilet rolls, wipes, shower gel, shampoo, laundry gel, pads, floor cleaner, dish washer, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and disinfectant. 3- The bread pack (5$) contains: 5 bread bags. Children across Afghanistan—especially in rural and marginalized communities—are growing up with limited access to books, reading spaces, and quality learning materials. Despite years of educational efforts, gaps in literacy, reading culture, and inclusive educational content remain severe. For many children, a single book can be the difference between exclusion and opportunity. ACKU, Afghanistan’s leading knowledge and information center, is addressing this gap by producing locally written, age-appropriate books for children, youth, and adults. These publications use simple, accessible language and focus on themes essential for children’s growth and community resilience, including literacy, educational equality, tolerance, human rights, livelihoods, and social well-being. Through this campaign, we aim to distribute 12,000 educational books to 90 ACKU/ABLE Box Libraries across 12 rural provinces. These libraries serve as vital community learning hubs for schools, youth groups, and local centers, yet many currently lack sufficient and up-to-date reading materials. By supporting this initiative, donors help place books directly into the hands of children and communities who need them most—fostering literacy, hope, and brighter futures across Afghanistan.
