Father Andeweg Institute for the Deaf (FAID)
FAID was founded in 1957 with a view of helping children with special needs - mainly the deaf-, and of advancing the rights of persons with deafness, promoting their full inclusion in relief and recovery programs in Lebanon and elsewhere.
Our mission is not only to teach deaf children to read, write and “hear”, but also to help them gain self-confidence, strength, independence, life skills and the most importantly to believe in themselves and to become the best version of themselves.
Learning in a loving, caring environment is very important to us.
Despite the hard economic situation in Lebanon and the limited sources of FAID, we were able with the help of our friends to launch a job opportunities program for 5 years.
We have opened the door for our ex- students and others to join our team, and we are very proud to have them as part of our family
“My aim in life is to make the deaf fully integrated citizens, to give them a chance to develop their talents. I don’t want them to be regarded as handicapped, but as people “
