I've been wanting to buy a laptop for so long, but it's just out of reach. The price tag might as well be a million rupees, it's so far from my grasp. I've been working multiple jobs, sacrificing my free time, my social life, and even my sleep to make ends meet. But no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to save enough. It's like I'm stuck in a never-ending cycle of poverty, with no escape in sight. My parents are struggling too, and I'm the only one who can support them. They're counting on me, and I feel like I'm failing them. I want to give them a better life, but it's like I'm stuck in quicksand, sinking deeper with every step. I've applied for loans, scholarships, and even crowdfunding, but nothing seems to work out. It's like the universe is conspiring against me, telling me that I'll never be good enough, that I'll never have what I want. Sometimes, I feel like giving up, like why even bother? But then I think about my parents, and how much they sacrifice for me, and I know I can't give up. I have to keep pushing, keep striving, no matter how hard it gets. But it's hard, it's so hard. I just wish I could catch a break, just one break, to make my dream come true. I wish I could tell my parents that everything will be okay, that I'll provide for them, that I'll make them proud. But for now, I'm stuck in this limbo, with no laptop, no answers, and no hope I'll keep working, keep hoping, and maybe, just maybe, my dream will come true. Today, I have been officially admitted to Dalhousie University for a Master of Management (September 2026). This is my one chance to rebuild a life stolen by war but I cannot do it alone. Little Readers, Big Hopes for Afghan Children
Children across Afghanistan—especially in rural and marginalized communities—are growing up with limited access to books, reading spaces, and quality learning materials. Despite years of educational efforts, gaps in literacy, reading culture, and inclusive educational content remain severe. For many children, a single book can be the difference between exclusion and opportunity. ACKU, Afghanistan’s leading knowledge and information center, is addressing this gap by producing locally written, age-appropriate books for children, youth, and adults. These publications use simple, accessible language and focus on themes essential for children’s growth and community resilience, including literacy, educational equality, tolerance, human rights, livelihoods, and social well-being. Through this campaign, we aim to distribute 12,000 educational books to 90 ACKU/ABLE Box Libraries across 12 rural provinces. These libraries serve as vital community learning hubs for schools, youth groups, and local centers, yet many currently lack sufficient and up-to-date reading materials. By supporting this initiative, donors help place books directly into the hands of children and communities who need them most—fostering literacy, hope, and brighter futures across Afghanistan.

These centers played a vital role by providing safe, development-focused environments for Roma children aged 3–5, who are too often excluded from institutional preschool education. For many of these children, the centers were not only places of learning but also places of belonging, offering early education, play, and care that helped prepare them for school and gave parents peace of mind. With their closure, dozens of children are left without access to this critical support, widening the gap in equality and opportunity.
