Medical Support for a Trans Woman Beginning HRT
Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I am a transgender woman living in Botswana, and I'm seeking short-term financial support to begin my medical transition while I work on finding a job. I have already identified an affirming doctor and trusted hospital (with the help of Rainbow Identity Association Botswana) where I can access gender-affirming care. This includes a prescription for hormone replacement therapy (HRT), ongoing blood tests, and follow-up consultations. The remaining barrier for me right now is cost. There is no medical insurance that covers gender-affirming care for trans people here. I'm asking for support to cover approximately the first 3 months of transition related expenses. These include initial consultation, required laboratory work, prescribed hormones, and follow-up monitoring to ensure my health and safety during the early stages of treatment. My goal is to raise $3300 USD, which reflects a realistic estimate for these costs and provides a small buffer for unexpected medical expenses. Any funds raised will be used solely for this purpose, and I'll post updates as I progress. For personal safety reasons, I am choosing to remain anonymous and not share identifying photos. I appreciate your understanding. Beginning HRT is not something I take lightly. It is an important step for me toward being able to function, work, and plan a future with a greater sense of stability and well-being. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign is also deeply appreciated. Thank you for reading, and thank you for any support you are able to offer.
