Abajour Beirut to Survive & Support
Two weeks after the Israeli assault on Lebanon, as the wave of displacement began and daily life was disrupted, we at Abajour Beirut tried to extend a helping hand as much as we could. We provided free hot meals to our displaced neighbors, opened our rooms to serve as distribution points and storage for local initiatives, and offered temporary shelter to the families of our team members to keep them safe. Our staff also volunteered to help many individuals find refuge. At the same time, like all small businesses, we struggled with a lack of customers, funding, and the ability to operate our café, restaurant, and kitchen, while covering the costs. To avoid closing our doors and costing our many employees their livelihoods, we are reaching out to friends and supporters to help Abajour Beirut continue with the following: Continue cooking daily meals to help our displaced neighbors (about 150 individuals living just a few steps away) by serving buffet-style meals. Providing hot meals to be distributed to nearby shelters. Opening our doors in the morning to welcome relief workers, offering them a 50% discount. Opening our side rooms to be used as storage for distributing relief supplies, including medical and food items. We are counting on your donations to help us continue doing what we can to support each other in these difficult times.

Aid for Tyre City: Food, Meds, Essentials

Aid for Tyre City: Food, Meds, Essentials
With the intensifying Israeli bombardment of Tyre city (Sour) and its surrounding areas, many families have been forced to flee. However, over a thousand families, including the elderly, children, the sick, and those with special needs, remain trapped in the city. These individuals were unable to evacuate due to economic hardships and logistical constraints. As a result of ongoing airstrikes and evacuation orders, relief organizations are struggling to access these areas, leaving those who remain in urgent need of assistance. In response to this critical situation, we—a group of locals—have launched a campaign to gather donations and provide essential aid to these families. This initiative supports on-the-ground efforts led by Mohamed Said, one of the few who has stayed behind in Tyre city, working tirelessly to deliver much-needed assistance. Mohamed is dedicated to ensuring that food, medicine, and other essentials reach those most affected by the conflict. A donation of just $25 can supply an aid package that includes food, medication, and basic necessities, sufficient for a family of four. Mohamed Said regularly documents his efforts, providing transparency and accountability as he delivers aid. You can follow his updates on Instagram at @mhamdsaidd Your support is vital in securing the survival and well-being of these families during the coming weeks. Help Oum Bilal in Gazza with Meryem Simply
Dear Donor, I am writing to you with a heart full of hope and challenge, despite the difficult circumstances I am facing. I am a 73-year-old woman who used to live in the northern Gaza Strip, but after the recent escalation, I was forced to flee to Khan Younis, then Rafah, and finally to the central area of Gaza. During this tragic journey, I lost my husband due to shelling on the area where we lived, and my life turned into a nightmare of homelessness and loss of hope. I now live in a simple shelter made of plastic and wood, and although I tried to continue to endure, the recent rains destroyed what I had. I have seventy grandchildren from ten children, and I suffer as I see their basic needs. They need baby formula, diapers, and healthy food other than canned food, especially in light of the deteriorating economic conditions. They also lack warm clothes to protect them from the cold of the coming winter. With each passing day, I feel more hopeless about my inability to help them. I only dream of having a tent to shelter myself and my grandchildren in this harsh winter. I also need financial support to cover the costs of treatment after the borders are opened, so that I can return to Gaza, which I do not intend to leave or live outside of. I do not ask for more than what any human being needs, and I know that there are many kind hearts who want to help. Any support you provide will have a huge impact on my life and the lives of my grandchildren.

Help a Palestinian student study

Help a Palestinian student study
My name is Samah Jouda, a Palestinian student and I was born on July 27, 2001. I am currently in my fifth year of studying dentistry at Istanbul Okan University in Turkey. Becoming a dentist has been my dream for as long as I can remember. However, I find myself at a crucial juncture in my journey, facing a situation that threatens to end my studies. My family’s circumstances are incredibly difficult. My father, who is elderly, is the sole provider for our family, and we are facing financial challenges that have made it nearly impossible to keep up with the financial demands of my education. On top of this, my father is also supporting my late uncle’s family, including two male and one female university students, as they have no one else to turn to since my uncle passed away in the war. Last semester, I was unable to pay my tuition fees, and though my teachers were kind enough to allow me to sit for my exams, my access to the university system was restricted throughout the year. Now, as I approach my final clinical year, I am deeply worried that without help, I will be unable to complete my studies. I have already completed 80 percent of the way, and I’m so close to reaching the finish line. This year is critical; it’s when I’ll gain the practical experience I need to become a qualified dentist. Without the funds to cover my tuition, all the years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice will be in vain. The school year commenced on September 2, 2024, and I urgently need to pay at least half of my tuition fees to access the clinical department and take my exams. Without this payment, I won't be able to participate in any online exams, as my name will be excluded from the exam list due to system restrictions. I am reaching out for support to ensure I don’t miss this critical opportunity in my education. I am reaching out with a humble request for your help. The funds I am hoping to raise will be used solely to cover my university fees, allowing me to continue my education and enter the final stage of my training. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to achieving my goal and fulfilling my dream. Your generosity could be the key to helping me complete this journey and finally become a dentist. Thank you for considering my story and for any support you can provide. ALL LOVE AND PRAYERS FOR YOUR SUPPORT. Sincere greetings & thanks Samah & the family

Entire generations are losing access to education, and we're committed to reversing this trend by offering scholarships and educational support to those who need it most. The Problem: War has disrupted every facet of life in the Middle East, with education being one of the hardest-hit sectors. According to UNESCO, over 14,000 educational institutions have been damaged or destroyed in the region. Furthermore, more than 13 million children, youth, and adults have been forced to abandon their education, robbing them of opportunities for a brighter future. Economic hardships, combined with the destruction of schools and universities, have left students with limited or no access to learning. The hopes and dreams of thousands of bright individuals are being shattered, and without intervention, these numbers will continue to rise. Our Solution: Learn and Work Academy is stepping in to fill this educational void. Through our scholarship programs, we provide financial aid, educational resources, and pathways to success for students from war-affected regions. We aim to restore hope by empowering individuals to pursue their education despite the odds stacked against them. Meet Our Students: Amina: A mother displaced by conflict, trying to rebuild her life while pursuing her nursing degree. With our support, she's creating a new future for herself and her children. Omar: A young man from a village devastated by war. Thanks to our scholarship, he's studying engineering, and he dreams of rebuilding his community. Your Impact: By donating to Learn and Work Academy, you will: Help rebuild the futures of students affected by war by providing them with the education they need to thrive. Contribute to the restoration of educational institutions that have been damaged or destroyed.
