Help me fix my leaking roof before the rain
Urgent Appeal for Help: Requesting Donations to Repair Our Leaking Roof Dear Friends and Well-wishers, I am writing this with a heavy heart, seeking your kind generosity to help my family overcome a severe hardship. My name is Dinelka Madushani Gunasekara. Currently, our house has an old tin/sheet roof that is completely deteriorated. During sunny days, the heat inside the house becomes unbearable. Even worse, the roof has numerous small holes, causing rainwater to leak inside during the rainy season. With the heavy rains expected to start in just a month, we are terrified. I am an asthma patient, and cold weather combined with dampness makes me severely ill very quickly. If we don’t fix this roof before the rains start, I will have to face severe health complications. Our Current Situation: My husband is the sole breadwinner, working tirelessly to support us. However, his income is barely enough for us to survive. I completed a portion of my higher education but could not finish my degree due to a lack of financial resources, which has made finding a good job extremely difficult. Furthermore, I am unable to work in places like garment factories because I suffer from medical conditions; my legs swell when I stand for long periods, and due to my severe asthma, being exposed to dust causes me acute breathing difficulties. Our Financial Struggle: We receive a small government assistance allowance of LKR 2,500 per month, but with today's cost of living, that amount is not even enough to buy food for three days. To manage our expenses, I often skip my lunch without even telling my husband, just to ensure he has enough food to take to work. In this financial reality, building a proper house, owning a vehicle, or even affording daily nutritious meals is a distant dream for us. Right now, our immediate and most critical need is to repair our roof so we can stay dry and safe. How You Can Help: We do not have the financial means to buy the materials or pay for the labor to fix this. Therefore, I humbly request your kind donations, no matter how small, to help us replace our leaking roof before the heavy rains begin. Your generosity could literally save my health and give us a safe place to sleep. If you are able to contribute or provide roofing materials, please reach out to us. Name: Dinelka Madushani Gunasekara Contact Number: [0711618657] Bank Account Details: [Sampath bank , Aralaganvila , A.C. NO - 1154 5632 3330] Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, empathy, and support. May you be blessed. Sincerely, Dinelka Madushani Gunasekara

Support Lebanon's Steadfastness- renewed

Support Lebanon's Steadfastness- renewed
Between March and May 2026, we were able to raise 7740 USD through two online fundraisers and two fundraising events (film screening & panel). Money was sent weekly to initiatives/networks on the ground, and individuals supporting families in schools and rented houses across Lebanon. For more details, check the pinned posts on @nayelrahi 's instagram account. While the world speaks of ceasefires and agreements, the Israeli war on Lebanon continues. Israel's ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon & its occupation of over 50 southern towns, continue. Israel continues to occupy towns in southern Lebanon; many of those who have gone back to their homes have had to evacuate again after returning due to the occupation's relentless terrorizing strikes. Israel continues to target life and survival-enabling infrastructure in the south of the country. The tens of families who went back to Nabatieh a few weeks ago have had to leave again because the city remains out of power - stripped of basic infrastructure and survival pathways - water pumping stations, wastewater plants, and hospitals struck deliberately and damaged to prevent the people of the land from returning. People are slowly coming to terms with what they have lost all the while being displaced and unable to access their homes and lands. We have not received any donations in June. The final amount of ~500 USD was sent on May 20 to support the steadfastness of the people of one southern town- now almost entirely razed to the ground -to purchase diapers, baby formula, and medication for its families - some of whom remain steadfast in neighboring towns, and many now displaced across the country. Friends receiving this money in Lebanon to keep the support going are exhausted, lost kin & friends, and are shouldering so, so much through the loss. Funds are dwindling and donations are few and far between, but I'm planning to continue fundraising to support the people of these towns - as much as possible. This fundraiser is renewed following the demand of a few people who would like to donate but do not have paypal and/or are not based in Canada. Every dollar helps.
