My beloved grandfather and both of my uncles were killed, while other family members remain wounded and traumatized. Before this nightmare, I was a student with hopes of building a brighter future. Today, I have been forced to abandon my education, and we live each day battling hunger, fear, and uncertainty. What was once a normal life has turned into a struggle for survival. My name is kalmal mery. I live in negombo,Sri Lanka.I am a very poor woman. I have my husband and two children. We don't have a house of our own. Right now, we are living on a piece of land that belongs to someone else,where my husband works as a watchman. With little money he earns from that job,we somehow manage our daily life. But the landowner has told us that before 01.01.2026 we must find another place to live,because the land we are staying on is going to be sold. It is very difficult for us to find a proper place,because families like ours,who live on others 's land ,rarely get the chance to have a house. Even if we move into a rented place,it will be hard to pay both the rent and the daily living expenses with the small income my husband earns from his labor. On top of that,he cannot work very hard because he has chest problems. For many years,we have been suffering through this poor and difficult life.even the government has not helped us to build a house,despite our situation. I have a big dream-to build a home that we can finally call our own.but because of our poverty,we have no money to make this dream come true.
